frikfrak Posted October 14, 2013 Report Posted October 14, 2013 Hi, Called Dr. B but they said they do not take my insurance and even if I come in they are not doing IVIG right now and if they did my ins. wouldn't pay for it. They said they will put me on a waiting list if I want, supposed to call back. Can someone please give me another immunologists or another doc that does IVIG. LLMD thinks IVIG would be good for my DS. Nothing else has worked. thanks His Mom
pr40 Posted October 14, 2013 Report Posted October 14, 2013 if you have a dr to order it, you can do it anywhere, even at home. the question is only of dosage. google services that do IVIG. It is a common procedure. what's difficult is to have it ordered and covered.
PowPow Posted October 14, 2013 Report Posted October 14, 2013 Why are they "not doing IVIg" now? That is strange, i think. ChrissyD 1
frikfrak Posted October 14, 2013 Author Report Posted October 14, 2013 They said having a hard time getting it covered by insurance.
Mayzoo Posted October 14, 2013 Report Posted October 14, 2013 Our Immunologist does IVIG, usually in his office. I will pm his name. For others, it may help to know where you are located.
qannie47 Posted October 15, 2013 Report Posted October 15, 2013 I have heard that dosage is important when treating Pandas, it is a much heavier dosage I think..My ds was monitored the whole time by nurse and doctor. I am surprised that it is administered at home.

PowPow Posted October 15, 2013 Report Posted October 15, 2013 Also, usually, a first dose would not be done in the home. At least that is how our doc does it. In some cases, she may order it at home, but only after successful infusion while being monitored.
T_Anna Posted October 16, 2013 Report Posted October 16, 2013 We did it at home all three times. I spoke to a few doctors and a friend whose father had IVIG as part of his cancer tx. DS doesn't have asthma or any other complications so we felt secure having it done at home...especially since DS won't leave the house. T.anna
