I'm not sure if we have delt with mycoplasma or not, but according to Stephen Buhner, there is a high probability that most of us have been exposed to at least some of the species. His book "Healing Lyme Disease Coinfections: Complementary and Holistic Treatments for Bartonella and Mycoplasma" is very informative and I would suggest that you read it. According to Buhner these bacteria act as parasites and scavenge nutrients from the body, resulting in various nutrient deficiencies depending on species - a good reason to use a nutrient dense diet. All of his supplements can be used along with abx or other treatments, and DD has been using them from the get go.

Mine has been igg + for myco for years. No igm. It started with walking pneumonia post PANDAS dx in 10/2010. Our specialist, an immunologist, does not feel that it is an issue as igg and the count stays betw. 125-150. DS has also been on Azith for over 2 years. In addition, i have understood that band 41 + is common and if alone, not to worry about too much. What are your thoughts and your doc's ideas on this. Our elevated Myco igg has always bothered me....

My DS's original trigger was strep. He has not has strep in a while and his titers are with in normal range but he still has lots of anxiety, OCD and tics. The doctor says it is the myco that is causing it and that it is hard to get rid of the myco. His IgG myco numbers have gone up slightly (w/in 10%). He says the band 41 could be myco and that I may want to pursue additional lyme testing. He also said that they antibiotics that I have been using would also work against the lyme. I don't recall my son ever having walking pneumonia.

Thanks Rowingmom. I am going to read that book.

My dd's myco levels have remained constant at igg>5 for the past 18 months, I have been to this high igg level indicates active infection. Aso has returned to normal but no matter what we do we are still dealing with it. Dr b told us cipro was a last option for this but I'm worried about side effects. I suspect dd got this from the same tick that gave her Lyme. Sorry I can't be more helpful I have the same questions

My daughter had high IgG and IgM Myco titers for two years. We used different antibiotics Zith, Biaxin, and then when we finally went to an LLMD we started Minocycline and rifampin. Honestly it usually takes a combination of antibiotics to make a difference. After about two years her Myco IgM titers started to come into the normal range. We are still treating lyme and bartonella. Many kids with co infections may also be dealing with lyme. It is helpful to see an LLMD and get testing. LLMD's are very helpful at treating Mycoplasma and they can tell you what the chances are that this is the only infection or if there may be more at play.

Doxycycline, vit D and methyfolate.

ESP. The doxy.

High doses for

Almost 2 years, but did take breaks because its tough in the stomach, and has high probability of sun sensitivities- so went totally off for the summers.

DS titers were super high- 2960 ( norm under 300). Went slowly, slowly down- until he started hi dose Vit d and methyfolate/b-12 supps( not very high does, but every couple days - all he could tolerate) and the the titer dropped apprix 50% in 3 months. He was off all antibiotics those 3 months. Was also taking some EGCG ( green tea extract) and occasional curcummin...yucca.

Good luck- it's a tough one.

DS still has pandas, but more stable, fewer exacerbation does not seem to get sick much at all any more (d 3 most likely helped with that- not that he was sickly, he wasn't, but would exacerbated for 2 months after the sniffles, so every cold was devastating).

Planning another IVIG soon.

DS13 dx PANDAS has been IgG positive for mycoplasma and band 41 for about a year now. Just wondering what others have used to successfully eradicate it. Antibiotics, supplements, etc?? We have tried augmentin, biaxin and doxycycline. Thank you!

After 6 years, I'm STILL trying to eradicate it (mine is IgM and IgG). Both my kids have high IgG, but my younger son's IgG elevates when my IgM elevates. Last we checked my DS, same was for him. Very, very difficult to eliminate.
