crazy
My youngest son had a neck tic for about 2 weeks in June. It went away quite fast. I haven't seen it for the rest of the summer. We went to back to school night and he had the neck tic about 1 time per minute for about 7 minutes. I was devastated. He said the metal chair makes him lean too far back which bothered his neck. I am so upset. We have been seeing a specialist for his constipation issues and with those issues being so much better I figured the toxins are out of his body and that is why the tics went away. My older son also has motor tics. I have a real hard time with dealing with this as a parent. My oldest is very confident with himself that people don't say anything to him. My youngest is so much more of a wallflower and not real confident. He will let others bully him so that is why I find this upsetting at the beginning of the school year. How do I handle this? I cried and struggled so much with handling all this with my oldest, how do I o this again?
Chemar
Hi there are so many potential tic triggers at school that many people find their kids begin to tic more when it starts again. You son may be right about the chair being irritant...it could be fluorescent lighting, new paint, new carpets, woodwork etc etc...or even just the stress of the school environment. Just try to take it one day at a time. I would suggest letting the teacher know so that at least she is aware and doesn't start "calling him out" for tics Talk to your doctor to see what he/she suggests. As I don't recall whether you have TS in the family? (could be if oldest tics too) or have identified why your oldest also tics (if not TS, is it something else triggering both children?) ........yo may want to start keeping a journal to identify potential tic triggers and work on those. Most of all, and I know this is hard, try not to let your child see you upset by the tics. That will only make it harder for him, and be a potential tic trigger itself.
