Mayzoo
Blood work shows on top of everything my kiddo already has to deal with, she also has kidney disease, mononucleosis, HHV-6, hypothyroid and the doc forgot to test for coxsackie virus so she may have that too . I do not have her heavy metals test, neurotransmitter test, and a few other tests back yet, BUT will the adding on of diagnosis' ever end for my poor kiddo (all of our kiddos)? The doc who did the blood work has still not called back, but a reagent test strip test at home shows a moderate level of protein in the urine which added to her very high lactic acid blood results equals kidney disease. I will be testing every day this weekend to make sure I have good data for the urologist. I do not know the degree of damage or cause yet, I will be calling to make an appt with a urologist on Monday.

911RN
Kidney disease is usally followed by "nephrology" not urology. There is a condition called IgA nephropathy that can cause high protein in the urine. There is a link from Strep to this condition. My older, neurotypical son was followed by Nephrology for this condition from age 6 to age 12 for this. He has done well and is OK--no longer has to be seen for follow up. He is almost 16. Have to go to work...don't have time to get into details at the moment. Look it up--see if it fits.
Dedee
My niece also has IgA nephropathy. If I remember right it has an autoimmune cause as well. My neice is doing well and she is 26. She still has some problems with more than normal UTI's. But you are right, enough is enough. How much does one family have to go through already? I am so sorry that all this has come to light. I'm sure it's over whelming. Autoimmunity can cause havoc on so many body systems. I hope you are able to get these things under control. Sounds like you have a doctor who is on top of things. Please keep us posted on her progress. Dedee
