Tabatha42164
Been reading here off and on for a few months. My 6yr old son was diagnosed with TS and OCD tendencys May 2012. It started with eye rolling, throat clearing, and full body jerks. After his diagnosis I started him on a natural calm and Kirkland spectrum vitamin and all was well. We had almost forgot that he had TS because he would go weeks sometimes months without any tics and when he was it was very mild. Well about 3 weeks ago he came home from school with some pretty major tics. Eye rolling, head jerking, constant sniffling and air sucking, abdominal tensing, etc. So last week he woke up with a high fever and sore throat. Sure enough he had strep and was started on amoxicillin for 10 days. His tics have not changed. My question is does illness and infections make TS worse or is this just normal waxing and wanning that I have read about?
Chemar
Hi short answer is yes, illness and infections can and do make TS tics worse. Also, considering this was a strep infection, you may also want to investigate whether there is a possible PANDAS component to his tics and OCD
