philamom
Does anyone experience stomach cramps/nausea with mycoplasma? My daughter deals with daily nausea and absorption issues most likely due to lyme. Over the holidays my daughter and I were very sick with a bad cold (felt sort of like the flu, but only lasted about week). My husband who never gets sick, ended up catching it and diagnosed with walking pneumonia. That's mycoplasma correct?? Since then my daughter's nausea has really increased -also daily cramping. beeskneesmommy
Could it be a response to abx? I tend to mirror my son's elevated Strep titers and have to go on 30 day runs of Augmentin. Makes me feel pretty rank...and yes, Walking Pneumonia is associated w/Myco - this is how my son got it. We tried adding back zith in Nov but she couldn't tolerate it. The increased nausea from the zith went away. My gut is telling me its associated with the myco. The same day I took my husband to the doctor is when she started having daily problems again with increased symptoms (headaches too).
sf_mom
Philamom: If she does not test positive for Mycoplasma.... it could be Chlamydia Pneumonia. A friend of mine who is now diagnosed with Lyme became very ill after a bout of walking pneumonia and has been unable to get out of bed since fall of 2011. After finally getting to the right Dr. they found mycoplasma only slightly positive while Chlamydia was sky high. They believe it was the Chlamydia that kicked off the downward spiral. So, if you are doing blood work I'd do both myco and chlamydia. Both are common co-infections with Lyme. Edited January 11, 2013 by SF Mom
philamom
The 2 times she was tested for C Pneumonia (Aug 2010 & Jan 2011) she was Igg positive- Aug 2010: 1:64 Jan 2011: 1:128 (ref range <1:64) We (hopefully) see our LLMD in two weeks. We had to cancel our last appointment because we couldn't get her onto the train the day of. He was nice enough to offer a phone consult though. Haven't seen him since August. I will ask him to run it again. He didn't feel the elevated IgG was of concern thx Edited January 11, 2013 by philamom
sf_mom
It will be interesting to see if her titers are up further. Perhaps its why she could not tolerate Azithro this past fall due to type of infection/herx.
