croatian mum
hello again, my ds 12 had IVIG 6 month ago, and he is on abx and probiotic for the last 7 month. He was doing fine (more or less); but now the tics are back.1 month ago, he was positive for candida (troat culture); but, since he was doing great; we decided not to give him anything for candida; simply because we were affraid to unbalance him at the time. Now, his tics are back; so, we dont know if Candida can be a possible cause; or do we maybe need to try to change the abx (he is on Augmentin; (2 x 500 daily) And another question about vitamins - if You need to choose; and to give to Your son only the most important supplements for him - what would be Your choice? B12; Omega; fish oil; zink; magnesium or something else or what? I'm asking, because in our country we can only get 3 supplements; and each is selling separately; so we need to make a choice..hope someone can help us. 3boysmom
Candida was the cause of some small sniffing tics for our son. Fluconazole did not do the trick, but Nystatin along with Ketaconazole worked great. However, he recently had a short sickness and some very bad tics are going on right now, and the Nystatin along with Ketaconazole are not doing the trick this time. So it could be a different problem for us now.
kos_mom
Croatian Mom, I do not wish to alarm you, but my DD had candida appear on a throat culture--perhaps from a combination of inhaled steroids for asthma and two plus weeks of steroids for asthma, as well as large and prolonged amounts of broad spectrum abx. It was not treated and disseminated into her bloodstream. A fungal blood infection is life-threatening; DD was hospitalized for nine days. This is a fairly rare occurence--immune system typically is compromised in some way (in DD's case probably from the steroids)--but I would not take a chance on not treating the candida in your DS's throat. It might be secondary to something else..idk..but it is definetly a toxin. Watch carbs/sugar. as mom of ticcers skip omegas...your child might need omega 6 and not 3 at all..try to get it through food...it depends on what their cells are going i am in process in trying to figure if he needs borage, or primrose..i'm guessing primrose. i would say work on the gut..and maybe find some low dose k2 in form of mk4 and mk7...7stays in body longer and you can give too much. i would say z, mag taurine if you can get, b6 form of p5p...maybe b12...maybe give 1-2x a week...but maybe your kid needs more...again idk.
