We did the spit test and dd's had the strings immediately, I also did other dd and I and we had it too but it took longer to see the strings than hers did. I wasn't surprised I've always wondered if this might be a problem. But now what?

I've seen several things people have mentioned, Candida Clear by Now, Threelac, ect. I plan on trying to get the Yeast Syndrome book mentioned, probiotics. Diet of course, we already avoid sugar because dd has problems with hypoglycemia but the yeast breads will be harder to cut out.

So....tell me what you've successfully used and done!

Also has anyone gotten rid of yeast and saw improvments in bad behaviors? My dd is so hard to live with, tics I can handle this I can't. We used to be able to control her behaviors with diet and supplements but are at a point where it isn't working anymore. So I'm wondering if we clear up the yeast maybe the diet and vits would help again.

Hi Lisa

the improvement in overall health and moods/behaviour etc once eliminating candida is remarkable

We are very satisfied with the CANDIDA CLEAR by NOW, which we use in conjunction with MONOLAURIN by Ecological Systems (Monolaurin is Lauric acid, from coconuts and is an all purpose antimicrobial...we get our at The Vitamin Shoppe)

Although we were careful with diet (and still are) we did not become quite as rigid as some diets demand

The Yeast Syndrome is an excellent book, with some very helpful recipe ideas etc

The initial candida elimination phase is the hardest, but therafter sensible eating is the key, with periodic repeats of the supplements to maintain the yeast free environment

We now follow the principles in the Makers Diet (Jordan Rubin) for optimal health

I know many people have had great success with Threelac too

Hi,

My name is Mike and I have just been told by my Doctor that I have Candida infection.

My symptoms are some dizzyness, blurred vision, cronic fatigue, stiff neck muscles with headaches,

and just not feeling well.

My doctor prescribed me Nystatin Oral suspension.

What can I expect?

Will this do the trick?

What else can I do?

hi Mike

i would highly recommend the book The Yeast Syndrome by Morton Walker and John Trowbridge as it gives details on optimizing your diet while eliminating candida (includes lots of great recipes too)

do remember that candida is a parasite and as such, when it begins to die off, it releases toxins which can make you feel quite yucky

drinking lots of pure water and also having hot fresh lemon water is very helpful (1/2 lemon queezed into cup boiled water)

also taking probiotics is a big help!

Nystatin is not my personal choice as a yeast buster...but I know many people who have found it effective

I like Candida Clear by NOW, and have also heard good things about ThreeLac

Thank you for your helpful info.

Do you have any idea how long before I begin to feel better?

I realize that it does depend on the extent of my condition.

It's that right now I do feel like crud.

I am most concerned about the dizziness, and fatigue.

To tell you the truth, I diagnosed myself with this about a year ago. <_<

Ok not diagnosed, but I did question my other doctor if it could be Candida

and was nearly rebuked.

I have had a dry mouth for years, and I guzzle bottled water all day.

it never ceases to amaze me how many mainstream doctors refuse to acknowledge what a major problem Candida is for many people.

Knowledgable doctors know that Candida is responsible for so many undiagnosed and misdiagnosed illnesses

Eliminating the candida can be a lengthy process, but the sooner you start the better.

Also, the more diligent you are with your diet ( ie avoiding the things that feed the yeast which are primarily sugars, starches and alcohol and eating good things that promote natural flora in your digestive system like probiotics (supplements, pure yoghurt, kefir, and cultured veggies etc) the faster the yeast will die off.

The Nystatin will help to speed the process

again I do want to remind you that the toxic reaction when the die off begins can make you feel even yuckier, and that you can help speed this by the water, hot lemon juice and probiotics.

Acupuncture, massage, reflexology and chinese cupping are all also very helpful in the detox process and epsom salts baths are also recommended (2 cups epsom salts in a tub of hot water with a 20-30 minute soak)

One thing I can tell you from personal experience.........once you start eliminating the yeast and get thru that intial die-off stage.........you will begin to feel SO much better <_<

It aint easy but it sure is worth it!!

Thanks again Chemar,

I will get the book and begin learning about yeast.

This will take some getting used to, ( just had a couple pieces of pizza)

So that was not a good thing, but I am determined to learn. My intent is to look at this as an opportunity

to feel healthy again.

I will no doubt be back with many more questions if you don't mind.

Mike in Florida-I just wanted to warn you that the Nystatin oral suspension contains sugar. I know this has been discussed on the Autism boards. Many kids become addicted to the Nystatin and have trouble getting off of it because of the sugar content. I don't think all forms of Nystatin contain sugar, but this is something you may want to look into.

This link shows the Nystatin oral suspension and if you click on precautions, it says it contains sugar:

Mike

you may also want to consider getting some NOW Candida Clear supplement as well

I dont know how long you have to be on NYstatin, but once you have finished your course of it, maybe give the candida clear a try

it is made of optimum stuff to eradicate parasites and also contains ingredients to help minimise the die off reaction

Good stuff and very effective

Are these products available OTC?

Posted

Hi Mike

yes, NOW products are available OTC at most health food stores,

and also from iHerb.com

One of the things I really appreciate about iHerb.com is that they sell products often MUCH cheaper than in the stores, plus their shipping is so low that it still makes it less expensive to order from them, and they ship with lightning speed, via Priority Mail

Hi Mike

as the toxins from the candida leave your body, and also as your system becomes properly fed (without the candida "stealing" your nutrients) so you should not only become healthier overall but also regain energy vitality etc

People with chronic candida infection crave the foods that candida thrives on, ie sugars, carbohydrates, alcohol, etc and so tend to consume more of those....hence weight gain as a possible side effect

Is there a difference between candida and thrush?

My doctor told me I had candida not thrush.

It seems that many doctors and laypeople

think thrush is easily rid from the body with some

Nystatin alone. ( a few doses )

My doctor prescribed the nystatin in the 500ml bottle

with 5 refills. At first that freaked me out.

What is the norm with this?

Just trying educate myself here.

Thanks.
