deagar
We have tried eliminating the foods that my son was moderately sensitive to for about 7-8 weeks now with no improvements in tics. Since we haven't seen anything yet, is it worth continuing for the whole 3 months?
patty
What are your son's food sensitivities? Any environmental ones? Do you notice any tic triggers? And what are your son's symptoms? My son had a sudden onset of acute head nodding tic about 6 months ago. The neurologist and ped advised me to ignore it and wait and see. Three weeks later with little improvement. So I decided to use accupuncture to relax this nervous system and chiropractic adjustment to alleviate headache and neckpain. And it worked. His tic slowly decreased. He is not symptom free yet but manageable. We are in the process of figuring out what to do next. Hope this helps. Patty
evie
I'm having the same issue as you deagar. We took our son off of gluten/casein about 5-6 weeks ago, and we have still not seen any improvement in his tics or difficult behavior. I believe I came across a few posts here which mentioned that they saw results within a few days of eliminating the foods that their children are sensitive to. I am wondering if this is helping and I should continue to wait it out or should we just give this up....

Also, gluten is in alot of things that are not obvious. For example, rice milk. It has barley, and barley has gluten. It has been quit a learning process for me because my son is sensitive to wheat, gluten, oat, oat bran, milk, yogurt, butter, casein..... Also, alot of products out there are wheat-free but not gluten-free. Since your son had a sudden onset of symptoms, I suspect his immune system is overloaded, so by eliminating 2 food items may not be enough to produce results. If you have not done the food sensitivity blood test. I would eliminated artificial flavor, color, sweetener as these items have neurological effects. Also, reduce or eliminate TV time. You may also want to consider eating organic food as much as possible to reduce the toxin in the body. Does you son also have environmental allergies? Mold is another big trigger. Just be sure to get a true HEPA air purifier and not an ionic one, because it produces a small amount of ozone which is harmful to someone with asthma. Chiropractic and accupuncture helps my son with his tics. That may be helpful to your son as well. Patty
