The Flu Mist is a live vaccine. I know my daughter received it last year and it was what sent her "off that cliff". I know I have read lots and lots of stories about this happening. I would strongly caution against it.

Agree, we all just risk getting the flu. We all just got the flu this year and in my pandas son only saw a slight exasperation of symptoms a few days before we knew he had it. We will not do any more vaccines for my pandas son.

Totally agree!!!!!! DS just got the flu, quickly got Tamaflu, and it passed pretty quickly with minimum set back of PANDAS symptoms! My friend got the live flu mist for her daughter and within weeks her daughter got the alipesia ( spelling?....hair falling out) autoimmune illness. No moe vacinations for any of our 3 PANDAS sons!

I'm brand new at this and not even sure if my DD has PANDAS, but if she does, it was the FluMist that triggered her first noticeable episode. Both my DDs had had FluMist twice before (at ages 5 and 6) and only got the sniffles. I doubt she'll be getting any flu vaccines in future, and my other DD will get the shot.

Given the fact that no one has any clue what flu is going to hit in a given year, it's all just a crap shoot as to which vaccine they put out. Also, keep in mind that there is minimum to no testing done on those vaccines. It just blows my mind how people just go and get them each year.

Even my lung specialists office told me that it wasn't helping most of their patients, when I said I wasn't going to get it anymore!

BTW. My children and I do not get any more vaccines of any sort, except in an emergency (like tetnus, I suppose, if they absolutely needed it.) Our kids can't handle any more assault to the immune system...their bodies don't fight illness like other people do, so expecting them to get a vaccine and not get a reaction is absurd. We've had 4 doctors tell us no more vaccines.
