cindy
I'm new here but have been reading for a few weeks. My 8 year old daughter has developed a tonic (eye staring/head turning) tic that has gone from infrequent to almost constant over the past 4 weeks. She's been on supplements for 2 years for her ADHD, with great success, under the supervision of a doctor. The one time she tried Ritalin she developed facial tics (plus other unpleasant side effects), and we stopped the meds after just 2 weeks. So, she obviously is prone to the tics. My question is: help with the supplements! I'm not ready to take her to a doc as it's only been 1 month and she isn't complaining about the tics at all. I took her off the theanine that we were using for the ADHD since it increases dopamine levels. I then added magnesium and taurine to her nighttime regimen of 5HTP. During the day she was already taking Attention Gels (contain B vitamins, grape seed extract, fish oil among other things) and GABA for the ADHD. Does anyone have any advice for me about supplements? I plan to find a doctor in another 2 months if the tic doesn't subside on its own. So, I'm looking for advice in the meantime. Thanks!

I'm just learning the system. Thanks for your reply. I looked at your updated supplement info, and plan to refer to it if my daughter's tic does not subside on its own. Specific questions: What is the importance of zinc? What do you know about phenylaline levels? My daughter's had her urine tested, and this is the one level that was extremely high. I read that people exhibiting tics usually have low PEA levels. Thanks!
