deagar
I just received the results on my sons delayed food sensitivity test today. It showed that he was moderately sensitive to cane sugar, canola oil, FD & C Yellow #5, Cottonseed Oil, Polysorbate 60, Isopropyl Ether, Propyl Gallate, 1,2 Dichlorobenzene, Perch/Mackerel (which I don't think he ever had) and a few others. He is supposed to eliminate these from his diet for 3 months. His favorite thing to eat is something with sugar and I have found that a lot of snacks have cottonseed oil in it. With school starting, does this mean he can't eat school lunches, have birthday snacks etc. for 3 months or does cutting back A LOT help also? Another question, when we have microwave popcorn and there is fake butter for example, I am assuming that there is some Yellow Dye but how do you find out for sure when they don't specifically tell you? Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks - Deanna
Chemar
Deanna i would think that a total avoidance of those foods is necessary for you to see the correct effects. as far as the artificial colors go....that should be a permanent one! they are bad bad bad for everyone! but especially so for neurological issues The FDA is pretty stringent in requiring that all additives be listed on the ingredients (albeit that these are sometimes cloaked in obscure names ) and so the yellow stuff should be shown if it is in the popcorn you use We dont use "instant" popcorn since the advisory came out about the carcinogens that can emanate from the bags when heated, but I believe that the Newman's Own brand has no "junk" added. a safe way to pop your own corn in a bag is to put some into a brown paper bag and seal it with tape...you can add your own butter and seasoning and just be sure you place it on some paper towel or a plate in the microwave
mjsmard
Pardon me for my question, but what is delayed food sensitivity test? Who can order it? Svetlana
satu
We received also E:s IgG results this week and if you don't mind, I use the same topic for some questions. E has no sensitivity to cow's milk, goat's milk, yoghurt or casein, but HAS a 1+ reaction to cottage cheese and lactalbumin. Do you have any idea, why there is no reaction to milk itself but there is a reaction to one ingredient of milk? The other reactions were 2+ to celery and lentils and low reactions to peanuts, coffee (never had..), honey, oysters (never had either), olives and sesam seeds (I have been cooking only with olive oil and sesam seed oil). What would you say, which foods are "relatives" to oysters and coffee? I mean, if she never had them, where could the reaction be from?
