Brooks, 5, read his very first word w/no help a couple of weeks ago after our visit to Dr. Elia at CHOP. We were stuck in traffic, driving out of Philly and he looked at the wall of an overpass. He said "Mom, is that graffiti? What does it say"? I was watching the road and absentmindedly said "Try sounding it out". From the back seat I listened as he did so - his very, special, first word, all by himself! "Pah...oooo...ooo..p" POOP!! Mom, it's poop"!! So proud : > and thankful that this graffiti was on the tame side!

@PHILAMOM - I grew up there, about 18 miles to the west. LOVE my home city!

@AmySLP -she told me some time back but did not want it to be public knowledge yet. I guess she has made it official - did the letter come from CHOP? She will be practicing in the Phila. area.
