We consulted with Dr. Murphy's office last week and among other things, part of our treatment plan is for my daughter to start a probiotic and omega 3 (fish oil)supplement. She's 4 and very sensitive to smell and taste. Most days it's a fight to get her to take anything...including her antibiotic. I heard there is powder form of the probiotic you can mix with milk and gummie omega 3 supplements. Any suggestions on brand, etc. that have worked well for your children?

Hi my kids love HLC probiotic by pharmax. We use high potency and it seems good and tastes great. we hide other powder type supplements underneath. You can also use florastor and break open the capsules. Pharmax has a sweet sort of peachy taste and the florastor tastes a little cheesy.

We use Prothera/Klaire labs probiotics and Kirkman labs Sacchromyces boulardi. One is pill form and the other is powered(Klaire) All of our supplements are available but ours are prescribed.

As for the Omega's, we use the real deal. Nordic Naturals Arctic-D Cod liver oil. Taste is kinda nasty. BUT----the protocol we are on is helping. We asked about resorting to pill form for gag and smell issues---many a fights but Integrative ped said no---not as good. But they are good fights since our dd is getting better. All the sensitivities----smell, gag reflex, sound, tactile issues are getting better. Also we are on a ton of stuff.

Not sure of your story, but I would look into other supplements/deficiencies in vitamins and minerals as they are common in Pandas kiddos.

Best of luck to you!!!!

Vitamin Shoppe sells a dozen liquid varieties of probiotics http://www.vitaminshoppe.com/search/controller?N=4294967275&No=0&Ntk=SiteSearch&Ntt=probiotic&Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&Nty=1&cm_sp=keywordSearch-_-Form-_-Liquid

We used a strawberry flavored one that mixed well in strawberry milk and other - I think the strawberry banana one - that mixed well in Splash juice.

No ideas on omegas. My kids would not take them. No way, no how. Turns out that wasn't a bad thing. My kids have a condition called pyroulria, which leaves them zinc and B6 deficient. Those with pyroluria benefit more from taking Omega 6s, not 3s. And since both Omegas compete for the same binding sites, taking Omega 3s can make my kids' Omega 6 deficiency worse. So now take Primrose Oil (Omega 6) in a capsule now that they're older.

Agree with WorriedDadnMom - supplementing zinc, B6, magnesium, D3 and a few other things have made a huge difference for my kids. Check for deficiencies and treat those. That alone can sometimes reduce symptoms.

Coromega from Kirkmans tasted like a melted starburst and you can mix in mango sauce or just take by spoon.

Theralac powder has no taste and can be mixed in water or apple sauce.

Culturelle also used.
