mdmom Posted March 3, 2012 Report Posted March 3, 2012 We've been using Milk Thistle (300 mg twice daily) for liver support during Lyme treatment. Have had success (normal liver levels despite high doses of abx, antifungals) for 9 months. Thinking of switching to NAC for liver support, as I have also read it might help with OCD and anxiety. The capsules I am looking to use are 600 mg. NAC. Is anyone using this? If so, how much are you using?
MichaelTampa Posted March 3, 2012 Report Posted March 3, 2012 I have used this off and on, also 600mg per capsule. Normally 1-2 a day, sometimes just breakfast, sometimes just lunch, sometimes 1 each. Just the last few days I've been doing 2 at dinner, never had that happen before, perhaps to help with massive amounts of pills I am now taking in midafternoon, as I hear the pills work the liver as well.

Son's liver levels have always been fine so don't know if this helps or not. I've not notice if it helps his OCD or anxiety but his journey has been a very slow uphill improvement. We have to look back 6 months to realize the gains he's made. NAC 600 mg twice daily Milk Thistle 250mg standardized to 80% twice daily
NancyD Posted March 3, 2012 Report Posted March 3, 2012 I give my DD both Milk Thistle (250 mg) TID and NAC (600 mg) 2 capsules BID. So she gets a total of 2400 mg of NAC. Her doctor said she can have up to 3000 mg but she does best at 2400 mg. She is 16 and adult weight.
Suzan Posted March 4, 2012 Report Posted March 4, 2012 My dd9 is taking NAC, one a day (I think the same mg). She weighs 64 lbs.
