HanHan Posted February 18, 2012 Report Posted February 18, 2012 We have an appoint. scheduled with Dr. B. in Ct. for April. Set up a phone consult with Dr. T which is not covered by insurance. Unsure of whether to see both doctors or is it only necessary to meet with one. Our dd8 has pandas. We want to see if there are any underlying issues and whether we should proceed with a tonsillectomy and IVIG.
NancyD Posted February 18, 2012 Report Posted February 18, 2012 Whoever you go with make sure he tests for tick-borne infections (Lyme, Bartonella, Babesia, Ehrlicliosis), mycoP, and viral infections (EBV, HVV6, etc.). It's important to do that (and treat) before proceeding with T&A, IVIg, pheresis, etc. Otherwise the PANDAS exacerbations will keep coming back.

I would recommend Dr. B, because 1) he takes insurance 2) he tests for tick-borne infections, totally "gets" the connection, and recommends you see an LLMD if necessary 3) tests for the viral infections & all immune issues as well 4) does IVIG if you need it (Dr. T. does not do that.) That's my opinion.
