HT's Mom Posted February 10, 2012 Report Posted February 10, 2012 Love Dr. Jenike. No ego. No claims of expertise. No absolute answers. Just a reasoned (if not thorough) explanation of PANDAS/PANS and the possibility that this could be an explanation, and a recommendation that the girls go to an expert in it. An alert to parents that if their child presents with sudden onset tics and/or OCD, to have them checked out for PANS. I'm not sure what the wheelchair story was though - CD or Pandas? He didn't quite clarify.
Kiera Posted February 10, 2012 Report Posted February 10, 2012 Great piece! I think he meant CD for the guy in the wheelchair - however - given that he said the guy was so afraid he'd kick his fellow team-mates in the face that the fear of that paralysed him, makes me think he could've had PANS 1st, causing OCD to make him think he's kick his friends, then that got converted into CD in this case! Makes you think about alot of cases of CD, on infection triggering CD!
