My 22 year old son has PANDAS, Lyme and Bartonella. We just got the results back last Friday. The only Lyme doctor that I could find is not accepting any new patients. Does anyone use any doctors in Michigan or the Chicago area? Also, what is ART therapy?

When I think of ART, I think of Autonomic Response Testing, which refers to various approaches of exposing the patient to a substance (such as having them hold it by their stomach) and then pushing an arm (or sometimes other limb) to see how strong or weak it has become. Sometimes other parts of the body are touched to see if they are sensitive to the substance. This can be used to diagnose what is going on, what is causing pain or a reaction to a substance, or if a substance is causing a reaction, including used to determine if a particular bacteria or food is causing a problem, or if a particular drug or herb would be helpful or harmful for a patient to take. Any patient with a complicated disease like lyme disease would be greatly benefited by having access to such an approach, since without it, people are just guessing regarding what form of treatment to use (or even what the problem really is). This is something acupuncturists have used for decades (or maybe centuries, I don't know), but other people including some MD's have begun to see the light as well.

What a great description of ART Michael! People always ask me what it is and I do not even know how to begin to describe it. My son has been doing treatment using this form of diagnosis and he is healing slowly from many different things and seems to be at baseline or better most of the time [except with Areminsin which brings it up another notch]. It seems that ART testing is always right on when lab tests are done periodically to confirm treatment. There are different levels of ART testing. They go from level 1 to level 4. I believe, 4 is the highest, most experienced practitioner. Also, when son's doctor sees a new patient or is sick herself, she has someone else do the testing with her to make sure it is most accurate.

Best wishes for your 22 yr old. I have a 24 yr. old that seems to be relatively healthy and hope we do not have to go down this road for him too.

I just heard something this week about a LLMD outside of Detriot. My ears perked up b/c we drive from Ontario thru Detriot to Ohio to see our doc. But the person mentioning it did not know the name or any other info. You can check at www.lymenet.org. They have a flash discussion with a tab for seeking a doctor. We got several referrals when we posted there. Good luck!
