debbie5846 Posted December 14, 2011 Report Posted December 14, 2011 Hello, My husband has been in Lyme treatment for 6 months now, he has had no improvement in his symptoms. His symptoms are muscle weakness and neurological symptoms. His LLMD ordered a Heavy Metals test from Doctor's Data. His Lead level exceeds three times the normal level. His Gadolinium is higher than expected. His Cadmium exceeeds twice the Maximum expected level. Does anybody know what this means?? Any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated. The LLMD also ran a blood test with the following being High. Eos Above Normal High Eos (Absolute) Above Normal High A/G Ratio Above Normal High Does anybody know what this means?? Any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks for everyones help & support, Debbie

Not sure about the tests.
LNN Posted December 15, 2011 Report Posted December 15, 2011 Having toxic levels of heavy metals is fairly common in chronic lyme patients. This could be for several reasons - first, as an adult, he's had years to be exposed to toxins. Second, lyme is suspected of using/hoarding metals to build biofilms that make the bacteria nearly impervious to antibiotics. Third, lyme is suspected of blocking the body's ability to detoxify so that the body continues to re-supply the heavy metals and also create a more toxic/lyme friendly environment. Some LLMDs will help patients chelate (eliminate the metals) by using specific chelators - EDTA, DMSA or DMPS - each one has an affinity/preference for certain heavy metals (e.g. EDTA loves lead but doesn't bind much to mercury whereas DMSA loves mercury but doesn't bind to other things). Cheltation is a difficult process and needs to be done with a doctor who has experience with it. The second issue with lyme is that as you chelate, you strip away the metals that have been binding the biofilms. This is good in the long run, but in the short run, you release lyme bacteria from the film and have to deal with killing them and with the heavier toxin load that gets released by the dying bacteria. So major herxing symptoms. For this reason, many patients chelate for a few days and then take a break for a week or two in between. But the good news is that chelation could certainly make a big difference in his symptoms, as muscle weakness and neurological problems can certainly be part of metal poisoning. Your EOS results - EOS stands for eosinophils. These are a type of white blood cell and high levels can indicate an infection or an allergy. I don't know what the A/G ratio represents.

debbie5846 Posted December 15, 2011 Author Report Posted December 15, 2011 Hello, I wanted to add, that the Heavy Metals test my husband did was a urine test, he had to collect his urine for a period of 8 hours, you mix all the urine together, then send in a sample.

It may be the case if the metals are staying within her body rather than detoxing out. Interesting.
debbie5846 Posted December 15, 2011 Author Report Posted December 15, 2011 LLM, Thanks for all the information, I am very hopeful that when we get the metals out we will start to see improvement. It will be 2 weeks till we can see the doctor our LLMD, recommended for the Heavy Metal treatment. What can we do till then, to start getting rid of these metals? My husband is currently on Chlorella 4 1000mg tablets daily. Would you recommended anything else?? Thanks, Debbie
JuliaFaith Posted December 16, 2011 Report Posted December 16, 2011 For heavy metal detox we started with the following (per dr. instructions): Detox Deodorant - Apply to bottoms of feet daily at bedtime. If well tolerated, apply to underarms and neck Green clay (good toxin binder) - 1 tsp. completely dissolved in organic berry juice at least 30 minutes before meals or 1 hours after meals twice per day. Follow with 8 oz. of water (it seems he also took this away from abx) Now that we are 1 year in this protocol, my son is still doing the detox deodorant, in addition to, 3 salmon oil and 20 chlorella 15 min. before meals 3xday. No more clay, for now anyway. My dh started using the salmon oil/chlorella as well, just to try it, and feels so good he is continuing it even tho he has not been diagnosed with anything (not yet anyway). Good to hear you are tracking down treatment and finding some good doctors to work with on treatment. Best wishes.
debbie5846 Posted December 16, 2011 Author Report Posted December 16, 2011 JuliaFaith, Thank you for the protocal, I Just feel like we need to start something immediately, not wait two weeks. How many milligrams are your Chlorella tablets? How many milligrams are your salmon oil? What brand do you use and where do you purchase them at? What brand is your green clay and where do you purchase it from? What brand is your detox deodorant and where do you purchase it from? I really appreciate all your help and information.
MichaelTampa Posted December 16, 2011 Report Posted December 16, 2011 As stated above, the heavy metals can become part of biofilm. I had nice success with Detoxamin suppositories combined with biofilm treatments of Serrapeptase capsules and Cistus Incanus tea. I also agree that it is something to be careful about in terms of being sure you're ready. I think energy testing is the best way to determine what treatments are appropriate at any given point in time. A skilled and experienced doctor could theoretically be good at this too, perhaps. Another thing I used was Allergie-Immun treatments which train your body that all these things like heavy metals and other chemicals are bad, such that your body starts removing them. As this can lead to a big dump of metals, again, care is cautioned in terms of being ready and able to soak them up.
