lismom Posted November 3, 2011 Report Posted November 3, 2011 I just wanted to know if anyone is using this in their arsenal. We've attacked bart for 7 months and have seen improvement. However, time to add as we are in a state of holding. Little things creeping in. I think lyme is now coming to forefront. I have used ceftin at the beginning. But heard good things about the properties of augmentin xr. Any input would be appreciated. kathy
lyme_mom Posted November 3, 2011 Report Posted November 3, 2011 My son was on it at the end of his treatment and I think that it helped along w tindamax. he is well now and it has been over a year w no drugs. Of course which drugs are effective vary depending on what bugs u have. It kills Lyme and strep.
NancyD Posted November 3, 2011 Report Posted November 3, 2011 Yes, my DD takes Augmentin XR in addition to Doxy and pulsing Azyth/Tindamax. We tried taking her off it while treating Bart with Rifampin but her liver kept elevating. She's much better on the Augmentin XR.

I dont think my son took both at the same time. My llmd put him on augmentin xr when I told him that having to take all those pills before school was making him sick and he was getting sick by the time he got to school. With augmentin xr he only had to take the pill w dinner. Good luck with the augmentin xr.
NancyD Posted November 4, 2011 Report Posted November 4, 2011 Yes, she takes both Augmentin XR and Doxy and has no problem taking them on an empty stomach. Her monthly blood tests have been excellent and no problems with yeast or her gut. The only setback recently was due to her eating candy with dye and additives during Halloween. That automatically increased her impulsivity, mood dysregulation, anxiety, and OCD when it had been well under control. Yes, my DD takes Augmentin XR in addition to Doxy and pulsing Azyth/Tindamax. momcap Posted November 5, 2011 Report Posted November 5, 2011 Augmentin was a bad one for us. DS raged constantly while on it. It was scary - like exorcist scary - like should have been in a hospital scary. We were treating PANDAS, and didn't know he had lyme. We also didn't know anything about detox yet. I'm still too afraid to try it again. Right now he's taking amoxicillin and azithromycin and really improving!
