philamom Posted October 27, 2011 Report Posted October 27, 2011 Cefzil is in the Cepalasporin family. Yes, it is precribed for strep. How long did he prescribe for? Until the surgery? I'm glad you got some where - good luck!!

philamom Posted October 27, 2011 Report Posted October 27, 2011 yes rxd till surgery the 16th. hopefully will be on meds post op till we can get to dr. b on the 30th. thanks for your help! Great! I would work on arrangements now to make certain he is on abx afterwards. Maybe ask Dr. B's office if they could send him a letter/fax suggesting another 2 weeks of abx after the surgery, until your appointment with him. I would be concerned with all the bacteria being released and not being on some sort of antibiotic. Also, I recommend a probiotic if he's not already on one.
bulldog24 Posted October 28, 2011 Author Report Posted October 28, 2011 what probiotic and how much? thank you so much everyone
Iowadawn Posted October 28, 2011 Report Posted October 28, 2011 what probiotic and how much? thank you so much everyone Florastor is our Friend!! Our boy has been on a boatload of abx w/o a yeast problem. Can't say enough good about it. Dawn
philamom Posted October 28, 2011 Report Posted October 28, 2011 I also use Florastor. They sell a kids version that you can mix with food/drink or sprinkle directly into the mouth. I also like Culturelle kids. Try to separate 2-3 hours away from antibiotics.
Jtsmama Posted October 30, 2011 Report Posted October 30, 2011 My son uses culturelle probiotic pearls because he can taste everything. These are great. We had amazing results with Omnicef for years to control his Pandsd, then it stopped working. Now on Clindamycin..
