Heather_H_W Posted December 29, 2005 Report Posted December 29, 2005 I am curious. Where in the birthing order are your children with TS? For example, I have two boys and a girl (in that order) and the second-born son has TS; however, the first-born has a different father.
Chemar Posted December 30, 2005 Report Posted December 30, 2005 Hi I dont know that birth order has any significance...if it is genetic TS it just depends on whether or not the child gets the TS gene in a dominant form. Boys are known to manifest TS more than girls I have two sons, same parents, eldest has no TS, youngest has it. My husband and his father are the familial link
Heather_H_W Posted December 30, 2005 Author Report Posted December 30, 2005 I completely agree...I am only asking out of curiosity. Our first-born is an over achiever and our "baby" is the only girl. I strongly suspect that this has set up "#2" to feel a little more anxiety, which in turn sets off a host of other issues. Then of course I am tempted to compensate....So I'm just curious if others see birth order as any type of issue.

I have 4 children all with my husband. My eldest is a girl and does well is school and is outgoing. She has no t.s. My next is a son , he excels in school , high math and english. He suffered quite a bit with allergy based asthma and used to use a breathing machine alot more often than he does now. He has T.S. and OCD. Our next two a daughter than a son also have suffered greatly with allergies. Our daughter excels in school but our last son is in pre-school and we are unsure yet . We wait with baited breath to see if any signs come in the future with T.S.
Guest Posted January 4, 2006 Report Posted January 4, 2006 I don't know that my stuff will help that much, but I figured I'd add it in. We're all girls in my family. Theres 4 of us. I'm the 3rd child. Though one of my older sisters is adopted and there was also a miscarriage before me. There may be stuff I don't know other than that. Carolyn
JAC Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 I have two sons, same father. My oldest (11) has TS+. His symptoms started at about age 6. He was diagnosed at age 8. His symptoms progressively worsened and have peeked at this point. It's hard to imagine going through anything worse with him. He was allergy tested and appears to not be allergic to anything on the face of the earth. Removed dairy, sugar, environmental/personal perfumes...BIG difference in our son!! My youngest (8) started showing some mild symptoms at about age 7 1/2. He still has the same mild symptoms at 8 1/2 with no significant increase. Has a mild grass allergy, takes daily allergy medication. My oldest was uncomfortable in his own skin from day 1. My youngest was easy-going from day 1. I SIMPLY LOVE THEM BOTH AND WOULDN'T TRADE EITHER!!
Andy Posted February 1, 2006 Report Posted February 1, 2006 I have three sons. My oldest son started to show autistic spectrum behaviors at around age 2 after getting sick after getting a vacination shot. We started an enrich protein and vitamin diet as well as a behavior modification program at home to keep him in touch with us. At age 4 he was diagnoised with TS by a few neurologists and he started treatments under an alternative doctor. At age 6 we felt we went as far as we could with a well known alternative neurologist doctor and placed our son under the medical treatment programs of a well known DAN doctor. My other two sons age 16 months and 5 years have not shown anything yet. However, we feel that they may be prone to developing TS if exposure to an outside agent like mercury is made so we are proactive with their diet and supplements as well as having their vacination shots done thru another DAN doctor, who was featured in the wall street journal, and have the shots given individually rather then three at a time in one shot. We have spent most of my investment money profits and I gave up time to research other investment venues by applying that time to the health and well being of my own kids. But it was and is worth it for us. I mention the doctors as being well known for I wish to point out that there are many doctors who treat our kids who are not mainstream doctors but who vary from teaching medicine at harvard to having had successful results vertified by conservative news outlets.
