cobbiemommy Posted August 25, 2011 Report Posted August 25, 2011 We are taking Cholestyramine to remove the mold and Lyme toxins from my son. That stuff is gritty. The only way he will take it is mixed in with applesauce, but even that is getting old. Is there a trick I'm missing to dissolve the powder. Recipes, anyone? Cobbie

Cobbie We used orange juice with a little success for a while but it sounds similar to your apple sauce experience. The only thing I can think of trying is a smoothie and mixing it in the blender. I ended up getting the pill form for my dd10 because she could not stand the flavor or texture. I just mix with water and gulp it down and I hate it too! s
SSS Posted August 26, 2011 Report Posted August 26, 2011 Before my dd learned to swallow capsules, and we had yucky tasting supplements, I had been know to: Melt about 10 chocolate chips in the microwave, take out and mix the supplement in, put it all on a teaspoon, she'd eat it- A yummy flavorful ice cream, (not a lot, and she never got it otherwise) mixed with the supplement- Some people use nut butter and honey--
MichaelTampa Posted August 26, 2011 Report Posted August 26, 2011 I get it compounded with no artificial yuckiness, sweetened just with stevia, and while it is just a touch gritty, I do not find it unpleasant, and really the only taste is just the stevia.
Familyof5 Posted August 30, 2011 Report Posted August 30, 2011 I started by mixing it with applesauce, then we mixed it with a minute maid lemonade---you could try newman's organic lemondae if you want to go all natural route. Now, my kids take it with water, even the 7 year old.
