LNN Posted August 6, 2011 Report Posted August 6, 2011 S- You'll like this article.... http://naturalnutmeg.com/?p=1000 It has a section on symptoms in children that will hit home for many here. Laura
SSS Posted August 6, 2011 Report Posted August 6, 2011 There is a famous saying: Genetics loaded the gun, environment pulled the trigger. 1 in 62 infant boys born today will have autism. In the 80's, it was 1 in 10,000, and the children ages 0-5 were required to receive 10 vaccinations total. Today between ages 0-5, the CDC/pharmacutical companies/powers that be, require 36+, adding more, flu shots, etc. The article LLM posted, Lyme is increasing a thousand fold. I don't mean to hijack the thread. All I can attest to is my own child. I believe for her, who in 2005, when she was hours old, and she received the Hep. B vaccine with mercury in it, and then all the scheduled vaccines at 2, 4, 6, 9, 12 months, multiple at a time, it set off her immune system. She could not handle it, detoxify it properly. I don't think many can, thus the increase/epidemic. Then there are the mothers with amaglams, shots with mercury while preganant, etc. So I think it's either the mercury, or the lyme if it is there, that set it all off, for us personally. In all the lyme reading I am doing, I find interesting parts that say: which came first? the mercury or the lyme? I think our pandas is just part of our overall complete immune disregulation. Again, sorry to hijack. I'm going to stop now. Forgive me, I am emotional waiting on our lyme results, the implication of what this might bring. Sarah
momcap Posted August 7, 2011 Report Posted August 7, 2011 S & S - I am following your story and anxious to find out your results. Our kids have similar symptoms, similar labs, and I'm very curious what your lyme testing will reveal. Please let us know when they come in! So far we've tested 4 out of 5 in my family and all 4 positive so far.
MichaelTampa Posted August 7, 2011 Report Posted August 7, 2011 If it was all external then wouldn't everyone who gets strep develop PANDAS? I think it's probably everything.. environmental, genetic & then infectious trigger..If all are present then a disease develops? On a side note, my sister does not have the d8/17 marker like me and does not have PANDAS.... yet she's been exposed to strep plenty of times. I am inclined to agree with you that there is a genetic component. But, just to pass on something I just ran across, someone saying that selenium in sufficient quantities can neutralize mercury in the body making it more harmless, but then this would deplete selenium for use in fighting infections. So, nutrition can be a part of the situation, very complicated for sure... Michael
eljomom Posted August 9, 2011 Author Report Posted August 9, 2011 momaine- what test was used for bartonella? I hesitate to ask here, and no offense, but I don't want just the token "yes"---I seriously want to know if Lyme or co-infections can cause numerous tics, ocd, adhd, decline in drawing....basically pandas symptoms??? No pain, fatigue, etc. Absolutely yes! My dd who has lyme/bartonella had the following symptoms in order of severity: OCD, ADD, vocal and motor tics, completely unable to write/read due to ocd so can't track hand writing ability. Classic symptoms. Also urinary frequency (one bed wetting episode when first infected)
eljomom Posted August 9, 2011 Author Report Posted August 9, 2011 sorry momaine...also wanted to ask if lyme/bart treatment is helping? momaine Posted August 10, 2011 Report Posted August 10, 2011 Hi, Actually, I should have stated that my daughter has been clinically diagnosed with Bartonella. Her test was negative (through Specialty labs, I think) but her dr. still thinks she has it, is treating her for it, and YES, she is responding to treatment. Initially, she worsened considerably....and really struggled from week 4 to week 16,(horrible herx, which I saw as a good sign) but she's been slowly improving since then. (knock on wood) She is finally almost back to where she was after her initial 2 ivig's...when we didn't know she had Lyme and were treating for only pandas. (after that she back slid) I also am being treated for Lyme/Bartonella (based on symptoms and one specific lyme band that was positive)and based on how I've responded to treatment, I feel VERY confident that we are treating the right infections, which also gives me more confidence in my daughter's diagnosis. I am so happy to be able to share with you all that my daughter is really doing fantastic right now. I just hope like ###### it lasts. I think it will still wax and wane as she heals, but I'm hoping that her baseline continues to change for the positive. sorry momaine...also wanted to ask if lyme/bart treatment is helping?
