I know this has been discussed before but the search function isn't cooperating. So...KPU testing came back positive (don't have labs in hand yet). Mercury levels were also slightly elevated, so we'll be starting CORE along with chlorella - 10 pills each dose, 3 times a day (30 pills total). So when do I fit this in?

Currently, we give abx with breakfast and dinner and give probiotics, vitamins, milk thistle at bedtime. Geez this gets complicated. Can't even think about what we'll do when school starts, but for now...any ideas?

WOW!!! Cant help you with the core, but was told the Chlorella should be given 15-20 minutes prior to eating (B,L & Dinner). Good luck with the treatment!

So if you're giving chlorella with meals, when do you give abx?

Good question. I'm not on any abx - just chlorella and other supplements. At first, I was thinking you could take the chlorella 20 minutes before meals and then the abx during the meal, but not sure if that is too close. The chlorella could potentially pull out the abx - correct??

That's what I'm thinking. Assuming it's the same as charcoal and clay in that you need 2 hrs between the binder and the abx. We can be creative for a few weeks, but when school starts, I'm going to need a plan that fits things in during a much tighter time frame.

I'm perversely relieved with the KPU results. Dare I hope we've reached the end of our detective work and this could finally be the turning point? Or are we in for another round of ugliness if there's metals chelation that could set the whole inflammation chain reaction in motion again? I might actually consider the chlorella more important than the abx for a few months.

I feel like an idiot! I did not have any idea that there was a specific timing around the chlorella. Are you sure about that? I understand with charcoal that there is but I don't remember our LLMD saying anything about the timing. Does anyone know for sure?

I was just told to take it 15-20 minutes before food, on an empty stomach. I am taking it with a slew of other supplements and was not told they need to be seperated, but I would check with your doctor. I would want to be certain with a child, and also with antibiotics.

Laura - glad to hear you got the results. I think because it has some nutritional value to it, chlorella does not need to be treated the same as clay and charcoal. I was under the impression from our LLMD that it does not need to be spaced away from antibiotics and supplements.

Here is what we do: We take the Chlorella every other week and alternate with Captomer by Thorne (supposedly good for mercury detox). We give 10 Chlorella pills slightly before breakfast and dinner.... while the antibiotics are slightly after breakfast and dinner. You are suppose to chew the pills a little before swallowing 'good luck' with that... our older son just swallows. Then we follow with a large dose of bentonite clay at bedtime. I understand Bentonite is also good for KPU detox. Elizabeth researched Bentonite for KPU because her son was having difficulty with Chlorella. I am not sure about charcoal pills but I suspect similar to bentonite. Hopefully Elizabeth will chime in. I believe the brand of Chlorella is important because of potential additives... We use http://www.purechlorella.com/

Be prepared... Its been rough for my younger son with an increase in all symptoms since starting. He is only on 1 Core pill per day currently. Our LLMD cautioned us against the herx and told us to back down on treatment if there was too much of a negative response. We also started a new anti-viral with him at the same time so we are not sure what specifically is making him so much worse. Older DS seems to be fine on it at 4 pills per day but we had the worst 'physical' herx to date since starting Mepron last Saturday that we are still working through. So I am not sure if it ADDED to the herx. He has been on the Core for over a month and is still in the time frame of huge herx period. We saw immediate improvement in dark circles under his eyes and chapped lips. The chapped lips returned with the start of Mepron.

Younger DD is similar to older DS with response 'very little'. She is only on 1 Core pill per day.

Good luck and hopefully its not too rough of a herx. I have a feeling treatment will be very helpful especially long term but still in process..

I am using BioPure Chlorella Pyrenoidosa. I am supposed to take 6 tables before B,L,D. I haven't been able to take more than 12 a day because I find them very constipating (even with the additional H2O and supplements to aid with constipation -- but, I have IBS, so it doesn't take much).

Just spoke with LLMDs office - was told you can take chlorella without concern for the timing. Best to take shortly before a meal, then ok to take abx after a meal. DS is supposed to take 30 pills/day - 10 with each meal. Was told that if you don't feel well, the thing is to take more, not less.

We are supposed to taper up on the Core - 1 capsule twice a day for 2 weeks then 2 caps twice a day. Not sure if we're supposed to start the chlorella at full dose or build up. It's all being mailed to us from the LLMD office. Hopefully it will include "dosing for idiots" instructions.

I'm nervous about a herx - we leave for the beach in 2 weeks - the same beach where my son had the worst week post-IVIG last summer. Am really really hoping to avoid deja vu. We also have a wedding, with lots of expectations for proper behavior. So I'm tempted to wait until we're past the wedding and maybe start Core mid-vacation. Things are pretty good right now.

As I start to make my mental list of things to pack, it occurs to me that we can never travel internationally while my kids are sick. We'd never ever clear customs with case loads of pills!

Philamom - I've read about chlorella causing diarrhea, I have to worry about constipation too?

Could be just me - def. no diarrhea. I'm now wondering if it could be a liquid mineral supplement I'm on...I'll have to do some tweaking.

Good luck at the beach - I'm sure it will be much better than last year!
