Familyof5 Posted July 3, 2011 Report Posted July 3, 2011 My daughter, 12, has broken out with some severe acne in the last month. Bad acne all over her face, chest, and back. Many on her back are boils and look very uncomfortable. I realize she is probably hitting puberty, but I never had acne like this, I don't see any other kids her age with acne like this, and my husband said he never had it this bad. Any tips on how to control acne naturally? On top of all her other issues, it just doesn't seem fair that she has to worry about this too
emmalily Posted July 3, 2011 Report Posted July 3, 2011 Burt's Bees blemish stick. Combo of tea tree oil and some other natural stuff. I do think it contains alcohol, if that's something you're worried about, but it's certainly alot better than some of those acne treatment systems. The blemish stick works really, really well. You can find it at CVS.
sptcmom Posted July 4, 2011 Report Posted July 4, 2011 I use bentonite clay powder as a face mask. I make a thick paste with water. I got acne as a side effect of Clindamycin for some reason. Works like a charm. Wholefoods has a detox clay face mask which works well too but bento is just pulling those toxins right out. Seaweed face mask also helps as does turmeric which is antibacterial and antiviral. Kelp powder plus bento powder plus turmeric powder plus water, make a paste, apply on affected areas, let dry and go to sleep- and viola, overnight my face is clear, no redness. I got acne in a few areas not the whole face. Remember to wipe off the mask with a moist babywipe and toss it in the garbage can and NOT to just wash your face in the sink/shower. bento will clog pipes.
susie Posted July 4, 2011 Report Posted July 4, 2011 any new meds or supplements added around the time that it started? I wonder if it could be due to her normal skin flora being altered by antibiotics. Is she on plenty of high quality probiotics?
FallingApart Posted July 5, 2011 Report Posted July 5, 2011 Just to chime in, this has happened to me as well. Not quite as bad as what you are describing, but annoying nonetheless. I've been wondering what has caused it as well. Thank you for the suggestion sptcmom, we have tons of turmeric over here!
Familyof5 Posted July 6, 2011 Author Report Posted July 6, 2011 Right....that is what I'm thinking...something is causing this massive toxin eruption and I can't put my finger on what it is. I am a firm believer that mold toxins cause my family to flare, but the rest of the family isn't having flares right now. Maybe with puberty, end of school (lots of gluten, red dye, high fructose corn syrup) it is causing this flare --- just hope it goes away soon.
