interesting. my mom recently had surgery where she banked her own blood. unfortunately, she needed more and had 2 pints donated blood. anyway, i test for babesia through a form of ART -- and had quite classic symptoms in the past, although not extreme to have warranted diagnosis otherwise. i told her those who have had babesia are barred for life from donating. she asked the guy at the blood bank at the major hospital she had surgery at. he kind of scoffed, "who has babesia in their blood and how do they know?". he totally scoffed it off and said he wouldn't take that as barring me. yikes!
