MomWithOCDSon Posted June 4, 2011 Report Posted June 4, 2011 What a wonderful thing, this world wide web! One link leads to another link, which leads to another link . . . . . And now I came across this! I had no idea something like this even existed, but it certainly seems as though it would provide much of interest to many of us. I've only begun to poke around myself. Journal of Neuroinflammation
kimballot Posted June 4, 2011 Report Posted June 4, 2011 Wow! I searched for PANDAS and saw one article that briefly mentioned it. I may be searching for more in this journal! Good find! Who wants to write to the editors and ask them to start including some PANDAS (or PANS) information?
nicklemama Posted June 4, 2011 Report Posted June 4, 2011 (edited) Page one after clicking on articles contains an article about antigangliosides and autism. The higher the M1 antiganglioside, the worse the autism is. It actually says with these findings, autism ought to be researched to see if its actually part of autoimmune neuropsychiatric disorders! I wouldn't be at all surprised, because every one of the children I treat with Autism appear to have either significant family hx of autoimmune and/or turn out to be genetic.
jenbug Posted June 4, 2011 Report Posted June 4, 2011 Thanks for the info! Interesting indeed. My oldest, who I think has PANDAS for sure has some symptoms of sensory stuff as well. She cuts out her tags, has to have socks juuuust right, etc. She is also funny about what she eats....

My pediatrician believes it should be "on the spectrum" and hates that people use autism as a dx since it's just a collection of symptoms - that my have an underlying cause ifyou look for them.
