Nick231
Hey everyone, Having taken some advice from posts here a few weeks ago I started on a regime of things for my tics that seems to be working really well - their severity and violence has decreased, and my state of mind is better than it has been in a long while. I'm taking: Magnesium Calcium Zinc Flax Oil Evening primrose I've developed a bad tummy though - cramping, a nagging pain and sort of irritible bowel symptoms. I've been trying to adjust the doses of the things I'm taking and managed to stop the really severe reactions, but I still have really bad cramps and the pain. Has anyone else had this experience, and is it likely to get better as my body gets more used to the regime, or might I have to start over from scratch with some new things? As I said, I'm doing so well, but am just a bit worried about my tummy. Hope to hear from you. Nick
Chemar
Hi Nick Glad the tics are down but sorry to hear you are having a digestive reaction. A few things I would check, 1. What is the ratio of calcium to magnesium you are taking? It shouyld be 2 calcium to 1 magnesium. I personally wouldnt go higher than 1000mgCal:500mg mag with no more than 50mg zinc 2. Flaxseed oil can be digestive for some....it is good that you are taking evening primrose to balance the omega 3 from the flax with omega 6. Personally I would also add some borage oil and also dont take too high a dose of flaxseed to start. you can always work up. I never go above 1000mg flaxseed + 950mg evening primrose and 50mg borage 3. check the "inert" ingredients in the supplements to be sure there isnt something in there that you could be reacting too.....I have heard people complain that sucralose gives them irritable bowel type symptoms so make sure there isnt any added.... frequently the type of symptoims you are describing occur when one is allergic to a foodstuff, so I just strongly suspect that somthing they are putting into the supps is disagreeing with you 4.Also, be sure to always take your supps with a meal.....and with lots of liquid. hope that helps if the pain etc continues, you may well want to talk with your doctor to see if maybe something else is irritating your system ........I know I get so repetitive on this, but I truly believe that a qualified physician is so important in guiding one with supplements too.
