philamom Posted February 25, 2011 Report Posted February 25, 2011 Was just wondering if anyone purchased this childrens book on lyme. Does it just focus on the physical ailments of Lyme?
justinekno Posted February 26, 2011 Report Posted February 26, 2011 I bought this book sometime ago although I hadn't really read through it until I saw your post! It talks about the physical and emotional aspects of the disease. The emotional part speak about how to handle school, friends and the range of emotions one might feel (sadness, anger, frustration). The physical part speaks about how you get Lyme, the treatment, tests, and it breaks down the three stages of Lyme. I haven't shown it to my son who is 11 because he doesn't like to bring attention to his illness but it's a good book to have handy, just in case. . That's been the case with my daughter 9, but she's now asking many questions and wants to know if she can learn more. And thanks LLM, my daughter and I just read the tiger book you posted about...it was an emotional night and it helped to soothe the evening. We even acted it out...since it is more geared for younger kids...great message though! Maybe someone can bump the post.
