Wilma Jenks Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 does anyone show clostridia on there labs? and how has it been treating it?
Phasmid Posted February 12, 2011 Report Posted February 12, 2011 Wilma, if your child truly does have an infection with Clostridium difficile, (likely the only bacterium she would have), then she is getting the very best medication for it in the vancomycin. If she doesn't seem to be responding, ask these things: Can any of the other things, such as a charcoal or other detox supp) she is taking interfere with the action of the antibiotic? Check with a pharmacist if you are not sure.(What all is she taking by the way?) Is the antibiotic dose given when it should be? (Every four hours? or whenever) It almost sounds like she needs to be re-evaluated by her physician.
AmberM Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 We've been battling c. diff with my dd for 2 yrs now. We used to do cycles of flagyl but as soon as we stopped it, the clostridia would come right back. In between cycles, we would give 4 culturrelle caps a day and kyolic garlic. It would still come back though. We even did hyperbaric oxygen therapy and that worked great but a very expensive therapy if that's the only reason you're trying it. So we've been using vancomycin straight for the last 6mos and have seen amazing results. The stuff is outrageously expensive though, even through our insurance. If you're only doing short term spurts of vanco, you need to follow it up with a second round because the bacteria is spore forming. You may already know that though. We used to do 10 days on, 5 days off to let the spores hatch, then another 10 days on. -Amber
amyjoy Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 Hi Wilma question - is it c. diff that was diagnosed on a stool test? or clostridia byproducts from a urinary test, like the Organix profile?
