How do you schedule all the medicines and supplements for school aged kids? I'd rather not have the school administer any of them.

I need to fit one more amox dose in there between after school and bedtime. Or what about just giving all the amox in the morning? Does it have to be spaced out? I also want to fit in some activated charcoal but don't know when to do that either. During the week, we are only awake at home for 4-5 hours a day.

She wakes up at 7:00am and we leave the house at 8:15am

am - zithromax and amox

after school (4:30pm) - colestid (pill form of Questran for bile binding, has to be taken away from other meds)

pm (7:00pm) - proboitics, nystatin and any other candida treatments

Asleep by 8pm usually

Thanks for any ideas!

How much Amox? We give our daughter 500mg Amox and 250mg Zith in the am and another 500mg Amox (and Minocin) at dinner.

She's on 500 mg zith and 1500 mg amox. When do you give your probiotics if you have the abx split up between am/pm?

Susan-

I put a packet of Florastor for Kids in her lunch box. I give her two probiotic pearls after school at 3:40. Antibiotics with breakfast and dinner. Burber (detox) right before breakfast and dinner. Culturelle for kids at 8:00 and Klaire Thera-biotic probiotic capsules right before bed. Multi-vitamin at breakfast.

Hi Susan,

We have almost the same meds as you.

My dd9 takes 875 augmentin in AM, and as late as possible before school she takes a saccharomyces boulardi (hangs in well with the abx)

Then 2 x 30 billion Healthy Probiotics right after school.

At dinner another 875 Augmentin.

2 hours later 500 zithromax.

Last thing before bed another sacch boulardi.

She's been doing this for a month, seems to tolerate it well.

We do antibiotics before school and charcoal after school at 3. We then do antibiotics again at 6 with dinner and then probiotics and boulardii at bedtime (8:00). Our LLMD said probiotics work better when given last thing at night. Two days a week my son doesn't get home until 4:30 so we skip the charcoal on those days. We do a fiber drink twice a day too which also helps with detox. He takes that in the AM and at bedtime.

It's called Tru-Fiber. I buy it at our LLMD's office but they have a website too (not sure if you can order off of it though). www.trufiber.net. The stuff works like a charm! It's recommended to take with Theralac probiotics or any high potency probiotic which we do.

Justine- I'm intersted about the fiber drink...may I ask what it's called?

I put it in about 4 oz of OJ in the morning and then cranberry juice in the evening. It's really hard to stir because it clumps together so I stir it with the handle of a wooden spoon (a spoon just wasn't doing the trick not to mention that sound was sending chills up my spine - like nails on the chalkboard!). Then my son drinks it really fast! He's a trooper but I think he knows it helps to keep him regular so he just drinks it.
