Stephanie2 Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 So, I'm not thinking strep in dec. But after sitting here for hours trying to figure out what is wrong with ds6 (sudden onset with pandas symptoms 48 hours ago). Then I remembered: I was out of town this last weekend and the whole time I had a sore throat, sinus infec., etc. My throat was RAW! So, I come home on Sunday, and by Monday night he is starting with sudden-onset emotional lability. Then the dilated pupils. The fears, meldowns, ocd. WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME?? By now I should have this pegged within the hour...the minute! 48 hours to figure this out?? Wow... Last time (which was only in Sept.) it took me 36 hours to put it all together, I had a sore throat, both kids fell apart. Went in for a culture and they had strep on the rapid. OK, I can sleep now. Call pandas doc in am...
thereishope Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 Let's hope it's not strep or that it's only a reaction from exposure to maybe just you having it? Get yourself to the doctor too or get a script if you can w/o going. Keep us updated.
Stephanie2 Posted December 17, 2010 Author Report Posted December 17, 2010 Well we started Augmentin this morning. I got the script the other day but wanted to hold off b/c DH said maybe it is a kid in school and today was his last day of school, maybe taking him out of that environment would clear it up, yada yada. But yesterday's meltdown/rage was so dramatic after school, DH said "kill it"!! LOL! I don't normally leave these things up to him but my brain is tired... So I started it this morning and he came home a dream!! No meltdowns, nothin. I have never seen augmentin kick in within 6 hours, but maybe that just proves that he does not have an active infection and that this mornings dose got him through whatever exposure was wreaking havoc. Do I continue the script? I'm tempted to DC it and see what winter break brings. My brain is tired
