Complicating the matter is the fact that there are no LLMD's around here (Texas).

Western Blot IgG:

** 23-25 -

28 -

30 -

** 31 IND

** 34 -

** 39 IND

** 41 ++

45 -

58 +

66 -

73 -

**83-93 -

Lymes Titre - Negative

IgM Western Blot

All were negative except:

** 39 - IND

** 41 - +

B Microti - Negative

Babesia - Negative

HME Panel - Negative

B henselae - Negative

Looks like no co-infections.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Looks positive for lyme if there are significant lyme symptoms. Remember, although there may be no coinfections, it also may just be false negatives, as that happens frequently. Hopefully you can find a way to get to an LLMD, their experience in knowing what to do can make all the difference, what a ridiculous pain to not have one in the whole state!

WOW, what a day for Lyme results... please see my other posts as all my comments apply to your child as well.

There are some IND for some very specific Lyme proteins: band 31 and band 39 for your child and of concern. There are numerous alternative testing for confirmation if 'you' should require them. I believe most LLMD would treat based on symptoms and retest in the future when the Lyme has been provoked out of hiding. Also, just because there are no positive results for co-infections that doesn't mean there isn't one present. Dr. Ann Corson, Pediatric Lyme Specialist states 80% of all her patients have at least one co-infection. So, I think it is more likely than not that your child may have a co-infection.

Please remember the sickest individual's with Lyme typically have the lowest antibody response (perhaps why your child has so many IND), the presence of binding immune complexes can complicate results, there are 17 strains of Babesia and they only have the ability to test for two, Babesia has some very specific symptoms and is easy to clinically diagnosed but hard to test for.

Are you willing to travel for some absolutely wonderful Dr.'s

Thanks for the helpful responses! Wish it wasn't so borderline. Would our next step be a lymes provocation test?

Thanks!

Holly,

Your next step should be to see an LLMD. They can help with further provocation testing or other confirmatory testing while they treat. I had similar results to your child and we did the 30-31 KDA CONFIRMATION test which ended up being positive (again, if its negative it means nothing). Sometimes they like to look for the DNA in the urine and would require loading them up with antibiotics to shed die-off. This particular testing method is extremely accurate when positive. You would need someone skilled in the proper antibiotics that typically includes a cyst buster to provoke Lyme.

Many LLMDs have a long wait list... ours is at least 4 months. Again, if you are willing to travel there are ways to get in a little earlier and we have two of the best LLMDs in SF. BUT, perhaps others could give recommendation of someone closer.
