ad_ccl
Just wondered if anyone knew of natural remedies for chronic cough due to asthma, allergies, phlegm build up, post nasal drip? My husband has had a chronic cough due to the listed reasons forever, now that we have seen the change in our son - although his cough was somewhat different we are starting to wonder about natural remedies for him as well. He has gone off milk - which seemed to initially help a little - are there any other things he could try to do. Reflux has been a problem in the past and he had a throat scope done a year or so ago that did show some scar tissue which could be contributing to the problem. He is unable to swallow pills which is part of why he had the scope - he choked quite badly on a tiny allergy pill. The scaring somehow explained why he is unable to swallow pills. Sorry if this is a bit off topic - but I am continually amazed by the wealth of knowledge found on this forum. Any advice would be appreciated. Chemar
Hi Alison there is a plant that grows in Southern Africa called BUCHU that is truly a wonder cure for all things respiratory I have sometimes seen BUCHU products in health stores in the States but dont know how widely they are distributed. I highly recommend it if your can find it. There are other natural products at health stores that are recommended for the respiratory tract, and I will also check some of my books and post back tomorrow if I find anything else specific, but really recommend that you try to find BUCHU (pronounced booghoo)
Claire
First and foremost, we keep a HEPA air filter in the bedrooms running all night and I strongly recommend it. I also noticed that when my son got allergies, completely washing all his bedding helped. As much as Threelac trials for yeast aren't available, these were the trials for it for allergies which to me were impressive. http://www.nutraingredients.com/news/news.asp?id=8141 http://www.mayoclinic.org/sinusitis-rst/fungi.html I used to get respiratory allergies and did the skin prick tests and was allergic to things year round. I personally give myself antigen shots and swear by them and the HEPA filter and hardwood floors. I do HORRIBLY with carpeting, so we have removed it all. Funny, my husband denied any allergies, but he notices the difference too. Claire
