kmom Posted October 9, 2010 Report Posted October 9, 2010 He's scared to go to the bathroom alone, scared of stories his buddy told him about ghosts, scared to go play in the basement alone and now tonight was scared to get off couch to get a blanket b/c he thought something in the couch cracks would get him...her climbed over the cracks. Do things get worse on steroid b/f they get better?
bubblegum Posted October 9, 2010 Report Posted October 9, 2010 I'm so sorry for your son.Our dd7 is afraid that her toys will come out at night and "get her"We offered to take toys out of her room but she didn't want to do that. Most of her toys are downstairs anyway. She knows that they really won't get her but she still has that anxiety. We never knew until she told us a few months ago.It makes me so sad to read another childs story because kids should not have to deal with this.We leave our bathroom light on during the night in our hall so our daughters room is not dark.Sometimes she will wet the bed because she is afraid to get up and other times she wets the bed and then gets into bed with us,she also will sometimes wake up yelling for us.Right now she is sleeping in our bed.Thank God we have a King size bed.I hope that you can make your son better, take care.
thereishope Posted October 9, 2010 Report Posted October 9, 2010 How long has he been on the steroids? For each child it varies how long it take to see any effect from the steroid. For some, immediate. For others, few days to a week. Then there are those that don't see positive results until a few weeks later...maybe even after the steroid is stopped. For my son, I didn't see any results until day 4 (after 3 doses were completely in him). Also, I did not see anything dramatic. I just saw the downward spiral stop and slowly get better. Also, what is the dosing? Now, I don't know much on dosing, but hopefully, if posted, someone can tell you if it's the right dose.

Do things get worse on steroid b/f they get better? Our dd seemed to get worse initially (irritability, hitting) on steroids, but then would get better 2 weeks later.
