Guest Guest_efgh Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 Check this article from Dr mercola (this newsletter) http://www.mercola.com/forms/light_bulbs.htm What I dont understand is this particular line.. Quote Fluorescent bulbs are the ONLY type of bulbs that currently produce complete and healthy full spectrum light What does he mean by fluorescent bulbs? Are they different from the bio pure full spectrum lights that he recommends????
Claire Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 efgh, I saw the lead, and didn't read the article. He also wrote: There is no such thing as an incandescent full spectrum bulb -- Inexpensive neodymium bulbs are no bargain. I can't tell you how many people are fooled by these bulbs. If the only benefit you receive by reading this article is to learn that, then I feel that I will have served you well. Neodymium bulbs are color corrected and not much better than regular bulbs but far more expensive. Well, I sure wish he would back it up with some study or fact--ESPECIALLY when he is selling a product. This is the frustrating part about him writing about health and selling products. It may be true, I wish I knew. We only get incandescent full spectrum, because the flourescent still flicker, full spectrum or not. If I am being 'ripped off' I would like to know, but I need more info. Thanks for posting. Claire
Chemar Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 I am also becoming a bit concerned about Mercola Merchandising I really value his knowledge and experience, but lately the newsletters are containing a lot of marketing. As to these bulbs......hmmmmmm.....as Claire says, fluorescence=flicker=photosensitivity trigger=tics I must say that with our old bulbs, they are just that...old ie they seem to last a very long time and seem to also do what we want...provide the light that seems to negate the TV flicker and are soothing to our eyes and easy to read by...etc etc
Guest Guest_Jennifer Posted January 13, 2005 Report Posted January 13, 2005 Hi All, Dr. Mercola has a contact page, you can ask product questions. Maybe they would be willing to supply additional research supporting his latest lightbulb article. Jennifer
jessicasteven Posted March 11, 2009 Report Posted March 11, 2009 The LDN story has now been posted on the Dr Mercola site. For those not aware of Dr Mercola he is a conventionally trained doctor committed to the treatment of disease by natural methods and is so far as I can see is the number one quoted expert in his particular field. For him to have anything to do with even mentioning LDN must be a very significant breakthrough.
