Cassi Posted September 22, 2010 Report Posted September 22, 2010 I just called the 2 houston doctors that are on the list - hoefner & collard. They both said they each had one patient who started dealing with this while in their care and the patient (parent) put their name on the list without asking them. They both told me they didn't know much about pandas. Does anyone else know of doctors, not just in houston, but in Texas they have used and can recommend?
texascatholic Posted September 22, 2010 Report Posted September 22, 2010 You can try Dr. Rao in Plano, TX (very knowledgeable) or Dr. Infante in San Antonio who is just starting to treat PANDAS. Hope you find some help soon. God bless, Holly
EAMom Posted September 22, 2010 Report Posted September 22, 2010 Hi...can you send a note to T. Mom to see about taking these docs off the list?
Suzan Posted September 23, 2010 Report Posted September 23, 2010 Just an fyi...I checked out the consolidated list I did a while ago and they are not on that list. Susan
Cassi Posted September 23, 2010 Author Report Posted September 23, 2010 sorry about that - it was the list from pandasresourcenetwork.com that had the 2 houston doctors on them.
peglem Posted September 23, 2010 Report Posted September 23, 2010 While we're on the topic, I think its a good idea to not place docs on the list without permission. I know my pediatrician was put on the list (by somebody else) without his permission. I think some docs may get quickly out of the PANDAS business, and regret ever helping that 1st child, if they start getting a barrage of patients requesting treatments. Some of them may feel they have to do it "on the sly." I just don't think its fair to the practitioner to do that. Private recommends via PM are another story, but I can see why docs might prefer not to have the info out there publicly- they're heroes to us, but naysaying doctors could make things tough for them.
KaraM Posted September 23, 2010 Report Posted September 23, 2010 Sorry about that, Cassi - I think I sent that to you. It was one I got from PRN in March. I was thinking it would be outdated because it didn't have enough docs on it. I didn't think about the possiblity some would be taken off....Sorry to send you off on a what must have been a frustrating path. Hopefully the doctor's mentioned in the reply above will help. Saw your post on OCDP about the Houston support group. I'm so glad you connected with them. Good luck! Kara sorry about that - it was the list from pandasresourcenetwork.com that had the 2 houston doctors on them.
