  1. Oh, I figured.... I've been picturing a handsome hunk with long wavy light brown hair around the shoulders and eyes the color of the deep blue ocean..... LOL No, honestly-- The fact that you opened a can of mackerel and doused it with cream and tomato sauce gave you away in the first two sentences. That is definitely a man meal. Actually you just described me Caryn Funnily enough I have brown hair, light blue eyes and I'm 6 ft something lol anyways haha, man meal. Yeah definately but it made me tic like a madman, probably along with the damn paxil and coffee, ugh. I went to the gym and felt a tiny bit better but still weirded out.
  2. I have the exact same mouth thing btw, stretching and gasping. VERY annoying because it's socially "weird" However like everyone with tourettes I adapt, fake yawning and what not to get a release
  3. Yeah I'm quitting the Paxil. Holy ###### it makes me feel weird, angry and alot of ticcing Carrageenan, yeah it's in the cream...hmm might be an issue there. There was carrageenan in chicken filés that I bought the other day too, I will remove both asap. Yeah without carbs, hardly no tryptophan > less serotonin, so that makes sense. Btw I'm a guy and my name is Jens ;P Thanks guys =)
  4. Yeah I think fish oil capsules makes me tic more. Also fish oil tends to make me dizzy and stuff so I'm not sure it's good for me. Yup it's mackerel from a can Chemar yeah, I've noticed mood problems as well. whenever I cut carbs I get all depressed and lethargic and get more tics. Oh and ###### me, I've started paxil at low dose 5 mg in the morning but that stuff makes me tic like a madman and I'm so enraged I almost smashed my bedroom mirror right now. I had the paxil pill + 2 cups of coffee (why why why I'm quitting coffee it makes my tics go mental). Btw, I never get these rages otherwise I dunno what I'm allergic to but dairy I think makes me tic more and the tics change to my eyes and around the nose when I have dairy weirdly enough. I eat porridge and seem to be pretty good with it so maybe gluten isn't an issue I also have usually 2 protein shakes/day and theres milk protein and lactose along with all the amino acids. They possibly make me tic more, but it's a little bit more subtle. Why is tourettes so hard, I feel so bad
  5. So I've been experimenting with low-carb high-fat diets. After day 2 I feel like ###### after my breakfast, which is: 1 can of mackerel in tomato sauce (1,5 g omega-3) 1,5 dl fat (34%) whipped cream. i.e no carbs. And I start to tic heavy, almost epileptic-like, convulsions. I just had some carbs in the form of full grain oatmeal porridge and instantly the tics calmed down. What the ######? Could it be that I have sensitivities towards lactose (whipped cream), but not gluten? My tics are way less now an hour later btw.
  6. Hmm alright. I just tried some more creatine to see the effects and within a couple of minutes I got huge tics again, I get premonitory urges to cramp really heavy, like my whole body. Head shaking, neck tic, just an explosive onset of tics. I'll stay away from creatine for now definately.
  7. Hi! I have mild/medium tourettes. I usually have modest tics that don't really bother me that much unless I drink a couple cups of coffee (coffee is evil with tics) or eat sugar. Magnesium, taurine and b-vitamins make me much calmer, like many other people. Anyways, I work out alot and use some supplements. Normally I just use whey protein, with essential amino acids in it, including phenylalanine, tyrosine and high levels of glutamine etc. However this doesn't seem to be that much of a problem. I've recently gotten creatine and HMB too. Google if you don't know HMB because I don't know much about it tbh. I started ticcing heavily this morning (like I felt something was not right, I'm never like this). This morning I took the following before my heavy ticcing occurred: 4000 IU Vitamin D3 5 mg creatine I just remembered the ticcing started before I took the HMB. I recall having some sort of reaction to vitamin D before. How about creatine. Any takers? I really went into a tic fit like I never do before like this. Shouldn't creatine help with nerves etc?
  8. Go Europe! lol I'm swedish so yeah
  9. You don't say how much B-vitamins he takes but you can increase the taurin up to 1,5 g/day I would say for a kid. ######, I'm 30 and I can take 5 g without a problem, there's really no side effects to taurin. Don't up the magnesium, it should be sufficient. Cut candy, cut caffeine.
  10. I think alot of you people here should try 5HTP for tics as it's a highly potent precursor to serotonin. Now, serotonin promotes rest and relaxation and when serotonin levels rise, dopamine levels generally fall which balances the often dopamine heavy brains of people with TS. I know, when I was on anti-depressants a few years back I hardly had tics. At all. it was basically night and day
  11. Thx Chemar! I'm a dumbass for not searching
  12. Hey airbucket, I have the same sort of "exhaling" tic where I tense my stomach and breath out fast. However i can control it and it has never affected my speech when I'm around people.
  13. Hi! I thought we could make a topic (kill me if it already exists) where we could list out experiences with different supplements that have worked/worked well in regards to tics and tourettes. Type out the supplements you've tried on yourself, your kid etc and mention which ones worked. It's cool to see which supplements that work for alot of people, thus narrowing down the efficacy or different brands etc. I'll start: *Taurin (powder). Taurin works very well against tics (especially motor) imo. I can literally go from very ticcing and convulsant to become calm, focused and almost with no tics or will to tic. Best thing of all? At least in Sweden, it's dirt cheap. About $7 for 0,5 kg = 1,1 pounds. I just mix in water and drink whenever I have alot of tics and stress. It can make me a little bit edgy though, which might be because I take 2-3 gr of Taurin sometimes. I'm a tall boy/man tough. *Magnesium, although it doesn't work as quick as taurine it definately helps against tics and also behavior. I get much calmer when I've taken magnesium. I take magnesiumglycinate atm. A big webshop for people working out has decided to take in alot of Jarrow's products to Sweden, which is full of awesome! They are cheap and quality. *B-complex. Helps against tics, calms you down. What makes tics worse? *Coffee. Ugh, good dopamine-feeling, but alot of tics. Sucks though because I love coffee *Sugar, especially candy. *Possibly wheat/milk as well. I'm gonna switch these for quinoa for a time to see if I notice a difference
  14. Ya B-vitamins are happy pills. Seriously, I've tried some anti-anxiety medications and 1000 mg niacinamide was better. Quite the calming effect
  15. So I've read alot about vitamin B3 in the form of niacinamide more exactly. It's effects are very similar to benzodiazepines since they bind to the same receptors in the brain. I also read that drugs like valium etc were the result of trying to copy the chemical structure of vitamin B3. Anyways I bought niacinamide 500 mg and thought I should try it to see how it affected stress levels and tics. I can just say that it worked over my expectations. It's not even that high of a dose since RDI in Sweden at least is around 20-30 mg daily for men and B3 is water soluable. When I took 1000 mg of niacinamide I felt very calm and I "slowed down" alot. I could concentrate more easily and felt very much at peace. I've tried some very low level anxiolytic medication a very long time ago and the effect is similar if not stronger to be honest. I got a bit drowsy but it didn't bother me much. Also niacinamide is quite cheap, I got 100 pills for around $15. Just throwing this out there! It works well against anxiety anyways
  16. Yep I thought of that too. Do you know in what food you get phenylalanine? It's an essential amino acid after all should be found in all protein. However my daily intake from protein drinks is almost 3g phenylalanine
  17. Hello! I work out quite alot and have two whey protein drinks each day. I read on the pack that there's a pretty high amount of certain amino acids such as Glutamine, Phenylalanine, Aspartic acid etc. Then again theres also Tryptophan. Also there's like a couple hundred mg of calcium, which I understood might make you tic more? So I was just thinking how much this whey protein might affect my tics and tourettes. It's so hard to say what affects what, you know?
  18. I've tried taurine myself since it's REALLY cheap in Sweden anyways. Tics calm down for sure is all I can say for me, also I can focus alot more + i hear things clearer. Kind of weird but nice
  19. Damn it, it's the only good magnesium I found. Every magnesium supplement over here (Sweden) seems to be oxide which I've come to understand isn't that good.
  20. Hello! I was wondering if Magnesiumaspartate would be bothersome for people with TS because of the aspartate thing?
  21. I dunno but claritin makes my tics worse.
  22. Actually I think your son will probably feel good about himself. I would in his situation and people feel good standing up for themselves. Of course he might not mention if he worries about something or things about this incident alot for a reason so you might want to ask him if he is alright with it so to speak. Tics can be worsened by negative feelings but I think he did a good thing actually.
  23. Well, it sounds as if he's willing to walk around "sexually frustrated" most of the time.....he could be tic free most of the time as well.... (but, yeah, not a technique most would chose....certainly not for kids, and,...hah....even most adults would want to weigh the pros and cons before signing up for this as long term therapy ...lol!) I have always found it interesting how so many afflictions "abate" during sex, though....I always figured that was do to a "mind body" thing....your mind was very focused NOT on the other afflictions....so you didnt notice them then.....but maybe it does have something to do with neurotransmitters, etc....? long term therapy, haha =) Yeah I think it has to do with your mind being occupied. I am almost tic free when I play intense computer games, study while being very focused etc. Then they of course come again but yeah
  24. Yeah a bit too much information. Also I don't see how you can possibly turn this new found experience of tic-reduction into anyting worthwhile. Feels to me more like some kind of braggin about you having sex or whatever lol
  25. Yeah, don't get Magnesium + Calcium, get Magnesium only. Many people with tics will get worse from Calcium. Also there's a big difference between different kinds of Magnesium; -oxide, citrate, glyconate, aspartate etc. Oxide is the worst because of poor bio-availability while the other ones are better. Magnesium has helped me but the same time it kind of dulls me off emotionally, which is annoying.
