Rheumatic disorders developed after hepatitis B vaccination

Me too! 😕 -
Also...I didn't see where they noted if the younger sibling was male or female. Maybe those that had an autistic (male) kid #1 only chose the vaccinate kid #2 with MMR if kid #2 was a girl, knowing that males are at higher risk for autism. So that would skew results as well. Does that make sense?

Has anybody had a chance to read this new paper? (Kim?) I skimmed it on my phone and haven't had a chance to read it closely. I think there are some fishy things about it, for one thing not very many African Americans were in the study. http://jama.jamanetwork.com/article.aspx?articleid=2275444 Of course, all the media is lit up with how once again, here is another study that shows no link between MMR and autism..I need to take the time to read the paper more closely....did they look at any other vaccines in the study, or the age at which MMR was actually given to the siblings (1 year vs 4 year?) ? Maybe they were spaced out more, delayed, or other vaccines such as hep B or Chicken Pox were omitted?). Did they allot enough time for the siblings to actually receive an autism diagnosis, or did they "wrap up" the study before enough years had elapsed to see if the siblings were eventually diagnosed? http://www.theguardian.com/society/2015/apr/21/no-link-between-mmr-and-autism-major-study-concludes?CMP=share_btn_fb ^^here are some snippets from some of the comments by readers 1) conflicts of interest 2) "As King suggests, there's no signal to suggest a relationship. The sampling on this is way off to make an adequate interpretation with confidence. The group size for unvaccinated kids with ASD siblings is 269. So given the "noisy" results, you'd be similarly valid in arguing the MMR reduces ASD risk." 3) good comments by John_MD (sorry for the weird copy/paste) John_MD 8h ago 34 Can somebody help me out here? I just looked through the paper and the numbers as reported show that kids with autistic siblings who are NOT vaccinated are 39% more likely to get autism that those who are not! So in their attempt to show that vaccines don't cause autism in high risk children, they've it can actually reduce the risk of developing it! I really want this paper to be legitimate, but if the data collection was done at random, such a result would be quite unlikely (and maybe, the vaccines can cure autism, but that is even less believable than the original hypothesis). The numbers are found here: http://amaprod.silverchaircdn.com/data/Journals/JAMA/933762/joi150033t2.png?v=635651498182930000 Reply |Pick Report 100383 John_MD 8h ago 34 I noticed the same thing in the original JAMA article. The relative risk is HIGHEST among the 5-year group kids whose siblings do not have ASD. Reply |Pick Report 6jjjjj John_MD 8h ago 12 Yes, I did not get that either. I raised that question earlier here, and all the people here raised up a ruckus of indignation, but when it came down to it, could not explain it either. I wasn't sure if I go the stats wrong, and got 'no vaccine/ to vaccine' backwards. I was also reading this from the article: "The pattern in RRs across these groups was such that lower RR estimates (commonly extending into the protective range, ie, below 1.0) were observed at younger vs older ages and in children with older siblings with vs without ASD. Although protective estimates tended not to reach statistical significance, this pattern is worth further consideration. It is possible, for example, that this pattern is driven by selective parental decision making around MMR immunization, ie, parents who notice social or communication delays in their children decide to forestall vaccination. Because as a group children with recognized delays are likely to be at higher risk of ASD, such selectivity could result in a tendency for some higher-risk children to be unexposed." The way they are talking about it there, is that parents who DON"T vaccinate the second child, get the protective benefit. Is that right? In that case, according to this study, it means that children who do NOT get vaccinated, and are siblings of ASDs, get a 44% reduction in ASD risk if they don't get vaccinated. I am kind of confused on how they are presenting the data. Reply |Pick Report John_MD 6jjjjj 8h ago 12 I think what they are saying is that vaccines do not reduce the risk of autism, but parents who know their kid is likely going to be autistic (especially knowing that their sibling is), are more likely to shy away from vaccinating their child. BUT here lies the problem: this self-selection makes the study less valid since now we don’t know what would have happened had the high risk children who were not vaccinated and are not autistic been vaccinated (we don’t know how many of them there are, but we know that the samples are not random). Reply |Pick Report Loading… 6jjjjj John_MD 8h ago 12 Yes I think what you are saying makes sense. But I think this study was kind of confusing, as to how it presented its data. It could have made it a little more clear. Reply |Pick Report 100383 John_MD 8h ago 23 Exactly. The cell size is TINY for the unvaccinated child with an ASD sibling.

Which doc said there is no effect by going GF? Dr. Frankovich just convinced dd to go gluten free. She said it may help decrease inflammation that is causing our baseline pandas symptoms. Also, if allergies can cause a flare, it's logical to think gluten sensitivity could as well.

What do we know about chickenpox?
EAMom replied to monarchcat's topic in PANS / PANDAS (Lyme included)
Definitely watch the Jeff Hayes short video. My non pandas dd (vaccinated for CP at age 1) got Shingles at age 5. The dermatologist we saw commented he was seeing a lot more shingles in little kids since the CP vaccine came on the market. I've heard of several kids that have gotten CP despite vaccination. My friend's child actually contracted CP from the grandma who had been recently vaccinated for shingles. It seems like a bad joke! CP vaccine to prevent CP in kids-->increased rate of Shingles in entire population-->Pharma promotes Shingles vaccine-->which sheds-->gives kids CP! "New research published in the International Journal of Toxicology (IJT) by Gary S. Goldman, Ph.D., reveals high rates of shingles (herpes zoster) in Americans since the government's 1995 recommendation that all children receive chicken pox vaccine. Goldman's research supports that shingles, which results in three times as many deaths and five times the number of hospitalizations as chicken pox, is suppressed naturally by occasional contact with chicken pox." http://www.news-medical.net/news/2005/09/01/12896.aspx -

http://rheumatology.oxfordjournals.org/content/38/10/978.full I wonder if the hep b vaccine is setting the stage for more kids to develop PANDAS? I know my PANDAS dd even got an "extra" hep b vaccine as a baby (due to switching medical groups). note: The hep B vaccine is on the CDC schedule in the US starting at birth...which is crazy b/c it's a sexually transmitted disease.

Posted on babycenter, I'm copying here just in case: http://community.babycenter.com/post/a55654141/epic_response_to_sb-277_in_california?cpg=1 Between December 17-20, 2014, measles arrived at the happiest place on earth and all broke loose. Anti-vaxxers were shamed and maligned by everyone from Jon Stewart, Jimmy Kimmel to Dr. Richard Pan. According to the California Department of Public Health's latest measles surveillance report (3/6/15), since December of 2014, there have been 132 confirmed measles cases reported in California residents out of a population of 38.8 million. 40 cases visited Disneyland during the period in question. 81% were not hospitalized. 56% were over the age of twenty. 18% were between the ages of five to nineteen. 19 cases were between the ages of one through four. 15 cases were under the age of one. This affected exactly 34 kids from birth to age four. Since the Sandy Hook elementary school shooting in December of 2012, there have been 109 school shootings and no legislation. There is no measles epidemic. There is, however, an epidemic of vaccine legislation. Currently, there are three bills in the California state legislature regarding vaccines: SB-277, SB-792 and AB-1117. SB-277 focuses on eliminating personal belief exemptions which in California includes religious exemptions. Its aim is listed below: (a) A means for the eventual achievement of total immunization of appropriate age groups against the following childhood diseases: 1) Diphtheria. 2) Hepatitis B. 3) Haemophilus influenzae type b. 4) Measles. 5) Mumps. 6) Pertussis (whooping cough). 7) Poliomyelitis. Rubella. 9) Tetanus. 10) Varicella (chickenpox). Only one company manufactures the polio vaccine and that's Sanofi. Only one company manufactures the varicella vaccine and that's Merck. Only one company has a monopoly on the mumps vaccine in the United States and that's Merck. Only one pharmaceutical company profits from the sale of all the vaccines on this list and that's Merck (Merck and Sanofi Pasteur are a global joint venture). The proposed legislation has nothing to do with a measles epidemic. There is no public health crisis that requires ten mandated vaccines, with an eleventh option of any vaccine "deemed appropriate." This is an attempt by Merck and the politicians they fund to capitalize on a measles outbreak, one they may actually be responsible for and can profit from. California's Political Reform Act of 1974 is designed to ensure that: - State and local government serve all citizens equally, without regard to status or wealth. - Public officials perform their duties impartially, without bias because of personal financial interests or the interests of financial supporters. - Public officials disclose income and assets that could be affected by official actions and disqualify themselves from participating in decisions when they have conflicts of interest. - Elections are fair. - Public officials and private citizens are given the means to vigorously enforce political reforms. "No public official at any level of state or local government shall make, participate in making, or in any way attempt to use his official position to influence a governmental decision in which he knows or has reason to know he has a financial interest." Even though the Supreme Court's decision on Citizens United upheld political spending as a form of protected speech under the First Amendment, it did not legalize financial conflicts of interest. SB-277 was introduced by Senators Dr. Richard Pan and Ben Allen. Principal Co-Author is Assembly Member Lorena Gonzalez. Co-Authors in the Senate: Senators Jim Beall, Marty Block, Kevin De Leon, Isadore Hall, Robert M. Hertzberg, Jerry Hill, Hann-Beth Jackson, Mark Leno, Mike McGuire, Holly Mitchell, Jeff Stone, Bob Wieckowski, and Lois Wolk. Co-Authors in the Assembly: Assembly Members Catharine Baker, David Chiu, Jim Cooper, Evan Low, Kevin McCarty, Adrin Nazarian, Anthony Rendon, Mark Stone, and Jim Wood. We analyzed Merck's annual reports on corporate contributions from 2006-2014. Highlighted in green are legislators whose campaigns received contributions from Merck. Listed below are some of the campaigns that received funding by year: 2006 - Ed Hernandez for Assembly 2006, Wolk for Assembly 2006 and Dr. Ed Hernandez, O.D., Democrat for Assembly 2006. 2007 - Lois Wolk for Senate 2008 2008 - Kevin DeLeon for Assembly 2008, Friends of Bill Monning, Carol Liu for Senate 2009 - Wolk for Senate 2012, Holly J. Mitchell for Assembly, Jerry Hill for State Assembly 2010, Tax Fighters for Anderson 2010 2010 - Dr. Richard Pan for Assembly 2010, Friends of Bill Monning for Assembly 2010, Holly J. Mitchell for Assembly 2010, Kevin de Leon for Assembly 2010, Dr. Ed Hernandez, O.D., Democrat for Senate 2010, Wolk for Senate 2012 2011 - Feinstein for Senate, Jerry Hill for Assembly 2012, Kevin De Leon for Senate 2014, Dr. Ed Hernandez, O.D., Democrat for Assembly 2014, Wolk for Senate 2012 2012 - Bill Monning for Senate 2012, Jerry Hill for Senate 2012,Dr. Ed Hernandez for Senate 2014, Major General Richard D. Roth USAF (Ret.) for Senate 2012, Taxpayers for Bob Huff 2012, Feinstein for Senate 2013 - Dr. Richard Pan for Senate 2014, Anthony Rendon for Assembly 2014, Hertzberg for Senate 2014, Holly J. Mitchell for Assembly 2014, Jerry Hill for Senate 2016, Kevin de Leon for Senate 2014, Dr. Ed Hernandez, O.D., Democrat for Senate 2014, Major General Richard D. Roth USAF (Ret,) for Senate 2016 2014 - Jim Cooper for Assembly 2014, Holly J. Mitchell for Assembly for 2014, Kevin De Leon for Senate 2014, Vidak for Senate 2014 Note how many Democrats currently in high positions of power were funded by Merck since the beginning of their careers and the ambitious titles of their committee names. Merck either had a way of predicting the winner of future elections or determined the winner of future elections. SB-277 is now in the Health, Education and Judiciary Committees. Health Committee Members: Senator Ed Hernandez ( Chair ) Senator Janet Nguyen (Vice Chair) Senator Isadore Hall, III - Co-Author Senator Holly J. Mitchell - Co-Author Senator Bill Monning Senator Jim Nielsen Senator Richard Pan - Author Senator Richard D. Roth Senator Lois Wolk - Co-Author Education Committee Members: Senator Carol Liu ( Chair ) Senator Bob Huff (Vice Chair) Senator Marty Block - Co-Author Senator Loni Hancock Senator Connie M. Levya Senator Tony Mendoza (Author of SB-792) Senator Richard Pan - Author Senator Andy Vidak Judiciary Committee Members: Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson ( Chair ) Co-Author Senator Andy Vidak (Vice Chair) Senator Joel Anderson Senator Robert M. Hertzberg Senator Mark Leno Senator Bill Monning Senator Bob Wieckowski - Co-Author Senators without any known conflicts of interest with Merck and aren't sponsoring the bill are highlighted in yellow. Note that they are the minority in every single committee. This isn't surprising considering Merck's long history of unethical and fraudulent behavior. They have paid out billions of dollars in settlements over Vioxx, NuvaRing, Fosamax and Vytorin among others. Currently, in the state of Pennsylvania, case #2:10-cv-04374-cdj UNITED STATES VS MERCK is pending. The Department of Justice is involved. Former virologists now whistleblowers allege that Merck falsified data with the MMR II vaccine in order to meet the 95% efficacy rate which is the benchmark required by the FDA to maintain its monolopy on the mumps vaccine which extends to the MMR II. This suggests vaccine failure and fraud, not unvaccinated kids, as the reason for the outbreaks. Falsely stating that all vaccines are safe and that the science is settled when this case exists is either an example of gross ignorance or evidence of a cover up. If either is the case, one should not be legislating vaccine mandates on Merck's behalf. Dr. Richard Pan and the medical establishment tout herd immunity as the reason for the need to mandate vaccines with 95% being the magic number. California is already at a 2.54% exemption rate for the state overall. Dr. Pan claims there are pockets with higher percentages and these pockets are putting everyone else at risk. However, there have been no outbreaks or deaths in these unvaccinated, wealthy and educated areas. The only risk is Dr. Pan using his authoritative role as a pediatrician to benefit politically. According to the Sacramento Bee, Dr. Pan opened a campaign committee to raise money for his Senate campaign, the day after his Assembly win. As a Senator, he owes "paramount loyalty to the public." Instead, he has been violating the First Amendment rights of California voters by either blocking them on social media in order to silence their legitimate concerns or allowing out of state astrosurfing trolls to harass them, including parents of vaccine injured children. During Dr. Pan's public media tour and on social media, he's been calling out "anti-vacciners." His pejorative use of the term shows that he has no interest in the actual concerns of constituents, the majority of whom aren't anti-vacciners but parents who are pro-choice when it comes to making medical decisions on behalf of their children. Informed consent is to medical ethics as freedom of speech is to a democracy. Using fear and propaganda to create a manufactured epidemic and using that epidemic to do away with informed consent is unethical, dangerous and sinister. 1. We ask that all three bills are dismissed immediately. 2. We ask for the resignation of Dr. Richard Pan, who has abused his authoritative roles as Senator and Physician. We also ask that Richard Pan's medical license #84883 be revoked. 3. We ask for an investigation into the members of the Health Committee in regards to their financial ties with Merck and how it may have affected past legislation. If there is evidence of any wrongdoing, we ask that they resign. 4. We ask for greater regulation and transparency with regards to campaign finance in the state of California. 5. We ask that Merck be held responsible for acting unethically.

Yes...SB 277 is bad news. Medical exemptions can be very difficult to obtain. Also, I would like to quote another parent: "I hope everyone understands SB 277 isn't just about measles (or polio or pertussis). The CDC schedule for kids up to age 5 now includes 36-38 vaccines. To put that in perspective, in 1983 that number was only 10 vaccines. The United States now has the highest number of mandated vaccines for children under the age of 5 of any country in the world, double the western world's average, yet the US ranks a pathetic 34th in infant mortality. Also, be aware that SB 277 allows the state to add ANY number of future vaccines to the school (public, private, home school) requirements, "any other disease deemed appropriate by the department". If the state decides your child "needs" a HPV vaccine by the time they are 10, that could be easily be added to the list. Lots of new vaccines are coming down the pipeline, are you ready to give your government carte blanche to mandate each and every new vaccine big pharma can push on them? I for one, would like to retain my parental right of informed consent. "

http://www.infectioncontroltoday.com/news/2015/02/common-allergy-medication-may-be-effective-at-killing-the-bacteria-that-causes-lyme-disease.aspx A new study funded by the Bay Area Lyme Foundation and conducted by Stanford School of Medicine researchers shows that loratadine, which is a common antihistamine frequently taken to treat allergy symptoms, may be able to help kill Borrelia burgdorferi, the bacteria associated with Lyme disease. Lyme disease is a potentially debilitating condition with 300,000 new cases in the US each year. The study was published in the open access publication Drug Design, Development and Therapy. "Our results bring us closer to the possibility of discovering the first targeted therapy to treat Lyme disease," says Jayakumar Rajadas, PhD, director of the Biomaterials and Advanced Drug Delivery Lab (BioADD) at Stanford School of Medicine, and lead author of the study. "It's exciting to see first-hand that our insights into the metabolic activity of this elusive bacteria may give us the ability to actually kill it." The results of this new laboratory study show that loratadine (trade name Claritin®) and specifically its metabolite, desloratadine, are able to prevent manganese (Mn) from entering the cell wall of the bacteria that causes Lyme disease, starving the bacteria and causing it to die in test tubes. The antihistamine accomplishes this by inhibiting the bacteria's transport system, BmtA (Borrelia metal transporter A). Manganese is required for certain metabolic processes of Borrelia burgdorferi and also plays an important role in numerous biological processes in the human body. Previous research shows that in general, bacteria scavenge the body for trace metals that circulate in the blood and have developed special adaptations on their cell walls to internalize these metals. These adaptations are called transport proteins, and BmtA is the specialized transport protein for Borrelia burgdorferi. BmtA binds with manganese to bring it into the bacteria, and studies have shown that BmtA and manganese are required to make the bacteria harmful to the human body.(1) "Because current treatments do not work for everyone and the bacteria that causes Lyme disease offers many treatment challenges, this study offers encouraging insights for researchers, and hope for the 80 million Americans at risk of getting Lyme disease," says Bonnie Crater, founder and science committee chairperson of the Bay Area Lyme Foundation, the leading private funder of innovative Lyme disease research in the US. "We are grateful to the BioADD team for their commitment to finding solutions to this difficult disease." Currently, patients with Lyme disease are typically prescribed a two- to four-week week course of antibiotics, but approximately 10 percent to 20 percent of patients treated with this regimen will have lingering symptoms of fatigue, pain, or joint and muscle aches.(2) Increasing in threat due to rising prevalence across the US, Lyme disease is a potentially debilitating infection caused by bacteria transmitted through the bite of an infected tick to people and pets. If caught early, most cases of Lyme disease can be effectively treated, but it is commonly misdiagnosed due to lack of awareness and unreliable diagnostic tests. There are about 300,000 new cases of Lyme disease each year, 10 times more than previously reported, according to statistics released in 2013 by the CDC. As a result of the difficulty in diagnosing and treating Lyme disease, as many as one million Americans may be suffering from the impact of its debilitating long-term symptoms and complications, according to Bay Area Lyme Foundation estimates. Anyone have research linking vaccines to ASD?
EAMom replied to Dedee's topic in PANS / PANDAS (Lyme included)
Kim, here is Dr. Bob Sears' Nov 6 response to the L.A. Times/Offit article. It was on his FB page https://www.facebook.com/pages/Dr-Bob-Sears/116317855073374 : DR. BOB'S DAILY: IF YOU DIDN'T HATE PAUL OFFIT BEFORE . . . I typically just ignore my critics. None of them are worth my time or emotional energy, and very few of them have anything scientifically worthwhile to say. ... But I'm going to give a shout out to my colleague, Dr. Paul Offit, for his brilliant discussion on How to Handle Questions About Vaccine Safety. Every answer he gives is spot on and completely accurate in every way. I don't know what I've been thinking, questioning vaccine safety. His answers are so complete, so truthful, and so without holes that any doctor who is blessed enough to read it will be thoroughly armed with irrefutable answers, and any parent who questions vaccine safety will be instantly converted to the truth. I wonder just how many doctors believe the arguments he puts forth in his answers. Part of me hopes that most doctors out there aren't that stupid. That it's just a select few who are hard-core party-liners that have lied to themselves for so long that they actually believe this stuff. A few of his laughable highlights include: "You don't have to trust pharmaceutical companies." Trust the side-effect reporting system. Every year, 18,000 young children somehow, magically, caught hepatitis B every year before the vaccine came into use. And don't worry about all the side effects on the package insert - they didn't really happen (ok, that was MY paraphrase) And the real doozy: $2.8 billion in compensation to vaccine-injured people isn't actually for those unfortunate enough to have been injured. It's all just for lawyers to make money. No one has to prove their case in court, so these awards mean nothing. Now we can all rest easy and completely vaccinate all of our children, on schedule, without a care in the world. Thanks Dr. Offit for helping us see the light! Dr. Bob -

More on leaky gut http://chriskresser.com/9-steps-to-perfect-health-5-heal-your-gut : "When the intestinal barrier becomes permeable (i.e. “leaky gut syndrome”), large protein molecules escape into the bloodstream. Since these proteins don’t belong outside of the gut, the body mounts an immune response and attacks them. Studies show that these attacks play a role in the development of autoimmune diseases like Hashimoto’s and type 1 diabetes, among others. In fact, experts in mucosal biology like Alessio Fasano now believe leaky gut is a precondition to developing autoimmunity: There is growing evidence that increased intestinal permeability plays a pathogenic role in various autoimmune diseases including [celiac disease] and [type 1 diabetes]. Therefore, we hypothesize that besides genetic and environmental factors, loss of intestinal barrier function is necessary to develop autoimmunity."
