  1. If it did- how old was your child when you started and for how long? did you notice a reduction in tics? thanks for any info or detail. if it did not help, did it make it worse? how so? thank you for all your help! sunshine9
  2. Hi Chemar, Your posts are so helpful for a novice like me, thank you!!! How old was your son when you started acupuncture? my daughter is 9.5 yo sunshine9
  3. I am so sorry that you are going through this- it must be overwhelming. Hopefully the topomax will calm things down a bit so that you can gather your strenght and try to think clearly. Ask what kind of seizure it is? any recent medications, infections, supplements, vaccinations, allergies? anything that you can think of that could have topped it over for your daughter? Hang in there, things will get better.
  4. Hello and thank you all for your invaluable help- anyone had a good experience with an allergist familiar with TS in the NYC/NJ/CT area? I have seen 4 allergists so far and I get conflicting answers! In the meantime my child is in distress and I do not want to overlaod her with medication. Thanks again.
  5. Thank you so much, this is so helpful!! my problem i sthat I cannot find a good integrative doctor in NYC who is familiar with TS+Allergies which my daughter has. How did you find the doctor that helped you? sunshine9
  6. I have been using it for 3 wks without major side effects excpet some gas and mild diarrhea which is know with high doses of magnesium.
  7. Hi Faith, I am presuming that allergies are the trigger because she started 2 yrs ago with eye blinking in March-had her tested she is allergis to trees, grass and ragweed + cats big time. Lat spring we were OK because I started preventive treatment sApril 1st, This year I tried starting the meds April 15th and avoided singulair. Then she started with the neck tic. The tic is almost gone now because I gave her Mg?ca/Zn/Vit C but she has a nasty deep cough with congestion and mild asthma- she is on Allegra (non-sedating anti-histamine), Singulair and today Inhaled Steroids (Pulmicort)-if you suspect allergies as atrigger for tics, take your son to a pediatric allergist for testing. I am trying to find a good on ein NYC but this has proven to be tough. Good luck!
  8. I live way across the country from you but I wanted to suggest chiropractic care for the neck tic. It might give her some relief. Also, a good massage for both of you might be in order! I'm sure you'll get some great advice here! Thank you ilovedogs for your prompt message! I just have to find a good neurological chiropractor in NYC who is familair with TS. Tks again!
  9. Hi there, Please help me! my vibrant 9 yo daughter has had TS for 2 yrs but very mild- did not require any meds, barely noticeable but she has had a horrible excerbation 4 wks ago with a bad neck tic. it is very disturbing to her, she feels she has to crack her neck. I am concerned she will hurt her neck+spine. She also has seasonal allergies. The pollen season here in NYC had been really bad. She is on a slew of meds including anti-histamines, singulair and now inhaled steroids because she is wheezing. I would like to avoid medication. Does anyone know a good alternative or integrative doctor who treats kids and allergies in NYC? Any other suggestions for the tics? I did start Magnesium+ Epsom Salts with improvement but was wondering what else I should have in my arsenal in case it flares up? Thank you all! this is such an amazing forum-God Bless.
