Can symptoms increase when excited?

My son is so excited as my parents are coming into town today along with some other family tomorrow and Monday. His intrusive thoughts have been more apparent today and he is on his 4th day of Abx. I am wondering if OCD symptoms can increase when excited, even if they are bad thoughts.

 

I know his tics used to increase when he got excited, but not sure about the thoughts.

 

Does anyone ever experience this with their child?

Yep, excitement is a form of stress in this context, I think. Our son's symptoms (tics especially, but OCD too) used to spike when he got very excited about something.

my daughter also has more obvious tics, and ocd when she is excited/happy/nervous.

it happens whenever she is with her cousin and having fun.
