swim Posted September 12, 2010 Report Posted September 12, 2010 swim - was your son showing signs of mono. i know this can be pretty serious. My oldest was checked 2 years ago and it was neg. Can you have Mono like strep and not have the symptons? Neither son showed any signs of mono when they had the virus. I have been told and read numerous places that there are usually no physical symptoms of mono when young children have the virus. The only reason we found out about our first son's infection was because our ped seems to test for mono whenever she does the blood test for strep. We were testing for strep (which came out positive) and that is when she said he had mono probably a few months prior -he was about 4 years old. When our second son showed PANDAS symptoms at age 8, our ped tested for strep and mono. Strep was negative, but mono was positive. Again, neither showed any signs of mono when they had the virus.

I am so sorry Misery loves company: we are heading for the doc now... I think two have strep and one impetigo. I am going to ask for a test for my daughter, I wouldn't be surprised if her score comes back high. WILL THIS EVER END? I know it will, I just wish someone would give me a road map! Isabel
