Momtocole, I salute you! I'm so glad you have found something that helps your child. I bet you'd be very happy if there were studies to affirm your choice and that surely would have made your decision to try this easier.

When I was considering trying it for Allie, she was acting as though she was demon possessed about 20 out of 24 hours/day- and the 4 hours of sleep she was getting wasn't even in a solid chunk. Psych meds did not help. Ultimately, I decided not to do it w/o the help/supervision of a doctor...

 

Just to let people know, I have only ever tried pot once in my life (and yes, I did inhale) but didn't like the feeling, so its not like I'm a big legalize pot advocate. I just think if its got potential to help people (its just a plant for goodness sakes!) it should be used medically, and under a doctors supervision. I honestly think the studies have not and will not be done because it will not add to the coffers of any corporation to study a medication that patients can grow themselves.

OK, just finished watching the segment on Ryan. I'm assuming that's your son. I thought you did a fantastic job in the interview! Good for you for finding something that gives him some relief while you work through healing the underlying cause. You are very brave, both for helping him and for talking about it on tv! I was disappointed they didn't do a better job of describing his illness, but frankly I've come to expect this from 20/20. Were you happy with the final product?

I watched the clip ....interesting! You were great momtocole1. Poor Ryan. (Slightly changing topic.) Is he still doing that badly after IVIG #2? How long ago was that? What antibiotics is he on? (I'm dittoing KimBallot's questions!)

I watched last night and cried seeing your son so distraught. so many of us here describe our kids troubles, but it is so different to

SEE it. my daughter has had moments eerily similar (in bed writhing), man.....it made me realize the similatites we talk about are really there. i hope you get more positive feedback than negative. it was very brave of you to do. hope your son continues to get better, THANK YOU!
