Hi all,

Here's where we are:

Azithromycin (500 mg.) gave some relief to behavior stuff, but the prednisone which he is on day 8 of, has been wonderful. It got him through a stressful move without any problems. He has been extremely calm, almost too calm as he is content to just lay around! He is putting on some weight with it and getting a bit of a moon face. His mood has been awesome. His ODD is really not detectable. Things look good.... except he has lost his eyelashes again, and I don't know if this is from pulling (and I just don't see it) or if there is a metabolic/autoimmune cause to this. One doc told me an autoimmune disorder involves the loss of eyelashes. But I have seen him pulling and I know he does do this. Anyhoo, here we are again, and I hate it because it looks so dang wierd, and I don't want him going into a new school this way. I am so upset. This was his first OCD to emerge in 2004 and has come and gone. He only had eyelashes for 6th grade last year. He had none for 4th and 5th grades. His friends teased him. Dr. Lin didn't say much about it, but told me the pred. would help modulate autoimmune issues. I'm not convinced this will work. I still have consult scheduled with Dr. K July 14. Should I just make a phone consult out of it, since we have Dr. Lin here in CA? I feel Dr. K will know more about the trichotillomania OCD since he has probably seen/treated more of it.

It seems, with PANDAS, during the healing other "older" symptoms pop up for a little while before disappearing. When My daughter was healing on prednisone, you could have hit a rewind button the way her symptoms healed. I know of another family whose son had symptoms that they had not seen in a long time resurface while on the prednisone.

You said you are on day 8, how long will he be on the prednisone?

That is interesting. I thought the "turning back" only happened with the IVIG. Huh...

He is on a 30 day tapering dose.
