Phasmid Posted June 22, 2010 Report Posted June 22, 2010 I am officially terrified now. My son has been on biaxin, 30 days, and now azithromycin going on 3 weeks. Today, both soiling and wet pants in the middle of the day. Has anyone had this issue???? Is it maybe NOT part of PANDAS??
forjpj Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 We had these issues. Felt like it was a combination between pandas symptoms and augmentin. The wetting improved once the pandas symptoms improved after plasmapherisis. The soiling has improved once switching to omnicef. Still kind of watching and waiting on that one before I take him to the gastro doc. He had been evaluated for celiac, but the doctor felt it was only a slight concern.
Phasmid Posted June 23, 2010 Author Report Posted June 23, 2010 Good to hear that pheresis helped. My son has been scoped both ends, and although he shows very slight signs of inflammation, it would never be reason for his probs. I am thinking that the part of the brain that controls both functions is really messed up... or, it is an ADD thing? An OCD thing? Our doc wants to give antibiotics time to work before revving up more treatment. He has not had steroid trial yet.
forjpj Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 I think part of my son's issues, at one point, was avoidance of the bathroom and all the compulsions that went with it. And then some of it was the add, just to busy to stop!!
3boysmom Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 (edited) What did you say his age was? Are you giving him probiotics? Edited June 23, 2010 by 3boysmom
Phasmid Posted June 23, 2010 Author Report Posted June 23, 2010 He's 11. This has been a problem for years now. I believe it to be PANDAS related but not sure. I give probiotics when doing antibiotics. I have a feeling that it is an OCD issue. He went for some months without it happening. The pee accidents completely throw me. It is not frequent, but the fact that this has happened a few times this month is suspicious. He seems not to notice, nor care. I have to TELL him that he has wet shorts and to change!! He tells me it was because of something.. always a reason. He never admits that, yes, he just had an accident
Phasmid Posted June 23, 2010 Author Report Posted June 23, 2010 Oh... our doc says he thinks the urine accidents happen due to yeast overgrowth. I am not so sure. He has been on diflucan for 2 1/2 weeks as well.
