MichaelTampa Posted June 13, 2010 Report Posted June 13, 2010 I had not heard of the C3D test either. Just did a little reading, looks like C3D and C4D can be used as diagnosis for acute lyme disease. (Some places I read talked about C3A and C4A in the same light, probably the same idea, but different names...) CD57 is good for chronic. Nice there are both tests. Michael
KeithandElizabeth Posted June 13, 2010 Report Posted June 13, 2010 You are correct in that the CD 57 cannot be used for kids. Some lyme doctors use the C3D and/or the ANA and C6 for kids since they all can help in tracking the illness. I know that a friend on this forum, whose daughter recently tested positive for lyme, just received an elevated ANA from Dr. Jones and her daughter's ANA was previous normal. Again, Dr. Jones's office just said that this was related to the lyme and should go down once the lyme was treated. Our lyme doctor does not actually use any of these markers. He goes based on the IGENEX tests, muscle testing and symptoms. So, every doctor is so different. Elizabeth
justinekno Posted June 13, 2010 Report Posted June 13, 2010 Okay, here's a silly question. What is the difference in Chronic versus Acute Lyme? I had not heard of the C3D test either. Just did a little reading, looks like C3D and C4D can be used as diagnosis for acute lyme disease. (Some places I read talked about C3A and C4A in the same light, probably the same idea, but different names...) CD57 is good for chronic. Nice there are both tests. Michael
justinekno Posted June 13, 2010 Report Posted June 13, 2010 We have our first appt with a Lyme knowledgeable dr that does work somewhat with Dr. Jones so I am trying to get educated before the appt. Thanks for this info. You are correct in that the CD 57 cannot be used for kids. Some lyme doctors use the C3D and/or the ANA and C6 for kids since they all can help in tracking the illness.
