So I can wake up and see when the boys, especially the younger one who had strep in April, are raging...tantrums, everything makes him mad, sensitive to EVERYTHING...crying at the drop of a hat, etc and I KNOW they are going to have a bad day. I administer children's ibuprofen and BINGO, we have a different child! He seems level, even, well mannered and able to handle disappointment, the word NO, and other things that would SET HIM OFF! He actually seems HAPPY for a change poor little fellow!

All of this only confirms my suspicion that they are both suffering from PANDAS. Thank goodness our answers are coming soon...

Us too. That is my dd7. She is much improved with ibuprofen. She's been having tummy trouble so I limit it and I can tell the difference when she does not have it.

Glad it's working, I know that gives you a much needed break.

I think most are giving the recommended dose. You can give it 3-4 x daily short term (few days). Give it with food. Long term, you'd probably want to give it less often (1-2 x daily).

We've been giving it once a day for over a year.

Don't use asprin...Ibuprofen is the only NSAID that seems to work for PANDAS kids.

You could give Danny more. Our 60 pound child takes 200mg. An adult dose is 400mg, so Danny could easily get that. However, I was told it was safe for me (120 pounds) to take up to 800mg (although I don't know if they meant repeatedly). But, there are days where I've taken 800mg a couple of times (migraines).

Do you give the recommended dose or higher?

I give recommended dose for both my boys. Today it happened again! Fighting, angry, raging this morning. Gave them both 1.5tsp and the calmer moods have set in!!!
