justinekno Posted April 18, 2010 Report Posted April 18, 2010 I think if you search probiotics on the board you will see alot of talk about timing and amounts. We staggered our probiotics about gave about 2 hours after antibiotic (twice a day). We also use S. Boullardi which is good yeast which helps protect the stomach also. We did have issues with a different probiotic which gave my son diarrhea and vomiting. We changed types and haven't had a problem since. My daughter is complaining of stomach aches. Does the timing of the probiotics make a difference? And/or should we increase the amount? We are currently giving her about 115 billion live lactic acid bacteria 3X a day. May
sf_mom Posted April 18, 2010 Report Posted April 18, 2010 Stomaches could be the result of toxins from 'die off' from the bacteria. Herxing Reaction. The probiotic amount you are giving is fantastic! We do give ours first thing in the morning with antibiotic (our antibiotic is coated). Our complaints of stomaches ended when we added bentonite clay to help rid the body of excess toxins. You might have her take a 1/4 cup in morning and 1/4 cup in evening. It will help fairly immediately. Can be purchased at Whole Foods. Online at Iherb its half the price but will take a couple of days for delivery. Do not stop bentonite clay until she is 100% recovered from PANDAS. In otherwords, we expect to be taking it for at least the next year. -Wendy My daughter is complaining of stomach aches. Does the timing of the probiotics make a difference? thereishope Posted April 18, 2010 Report Posted April 18, 2010 Yes, you need to space out the probiotics and the antibiotics. I want to say around 2-3 hours apart.
