worriedmommy Posted March 18, 2010 Report Posted March 18, 2010 I'm very interested in getting the Cunningham tests for my daughter. Her titers are low, and she's been on antibiotics for over 1 month now. (Amox...followed by Biaxin). Has anyone out there had these done on a child with low titers while on antibiotics, and still have the results in the PANDAS range?
dcmom Posted March 18, 2010 Report Posted March 18, 2010 Yes. My daugher had low titers and had been on zithromax for 5 mos, and came back in the high pandas range. She was in an exacerbation at the time- that seems to be what affects the results.....
thereishope Posted March 18, 2010 Report Posted March 18, 2010 Have you done a steroid? That's one thing that can affect the test results.
worriedmommy Posted March 18, 2010 Author Report Posted March 18, 2010 No, we have not done steroids. She takes a nasal spray with a steroid for seasonal allergies, but I'm told that this does not enter the blood stream like an oral one. Have you done a steroid? That's one thing that can affect the test results.

We had the Cunningham test done on day 15 of a 21 day steroid burst and he had also been on Augmentin for 3 weeks. His titers were high tho. He tested in the middle of the PANDAS range at 150.
EAMom Posted March 18, 2010 Report Posted March 18, 2010 Our dd tested in the high pandas range April 09. At the same time her ASO was undectable (strep titers had always been low). She had been on abs for 1 year at that point (Azith. 250mg/day since June 08) and was not in an exacerbation. We restested her during an exacerbation a couple of months later (still on abs) and her CaM kinase ll was in the high SC range (the highest Dr. C. had ever seen).

I suspect your son's Cam kinase ll would have been even higher if you had tested b-4 the burst.
